Sport Relief is organised by the Comic Relief charity and aims to use sport to change the lives of vulnerable people around the world.
By doing sporty challenges, having fun, learning about global issues and raising money, schools all over the UK can do good and feel good. All of the money raised goes towards helping people living incredibly tough lives both at home in the UK and in the world’s poorest countries
In support of raising awareness in schools, Promethean assisted Comic Relief in the development of interactive whiteboard materials for the classroom, which you can use to teach about fundraising and living in a developing country.
The resources include flipcharts as well as a resource pack of images taken from some of the Sport Relief projects in Brazil.
The Sport Relief Schools website features a huge amount of resources and lesson ideas for teachers to help cover citizenship, PSHE, english, geography and PE lessons in the classroom.
They are applicable for both primary (5-11) and secondary (11 - 16) aged pupils.
In brief, the resources are:
Flipcharts - download a flipchart to learn the stories of children and young people living in the UK and Brazil who are facing serious challenges and how they are overcoming them.
Videos - watch stories about the lives of young people who are at the heart of Sport Relief’s learning ideas, such as Jack, who is a young carer to his disabled sister.
Audio - listen to the Samba and get your pupils to interpret this traditional Brazilian form of music.
Lesson & Tutor Time ideas - there are lots of ideas for teachers on lesson plans and activities to inspire students to take part in Sport Relief 2008, and learn about the lives of young people in Brazil.
