Oxfam Education offers a huge range of ideas, resources and support for developing the global dimension in the classroom and the whole school.
All of Oxfam’s resources support Education for Global Citizenship – education that helps pupils understand their world and make a positive difference in it.
Updated from Oxfam’s hugely successful ‘Go Bananas’ teaching pack, this resource combines Oxfam’s expertise in cross-curricula education for global citizenship with Promethean’s expert knowledge and delivery of learning technology. Together, Oxfam and Promethean are bringing a global dimension to 21st Century education.
Offering an insight into the farming and distribution of bananas, these resources look at the banana industry from plant to plate.
Fully curriculum-linked yet mindful of food security and fair trade it allows learners to explore the human, agricultural and industrial issues facing the banana farmer. Flexible and adaptable, Go Bananas emphasises group work and is clearly linked not only to the PNS but also to the Geography, Numeracy and Citizenship curriculums.
Information is also provided for those following the Scottish Guidelines and there is also a small, accompanying resource pack.
These interactive resources have been split into three flipcharts and follow the journey a banana takes to get from the plant, direct to the consumers plate!
