Hector is a nine-year-old boy with a peculiar imagination. Since 2006, he’s been helping Texaco educate children about road safety through engagement with a series of free books and DVDs.
Now Hector is taking his road safety messages into the classroom, with a series of richly illustrated, interactive lesson plans designed to work within the National Curriculum’s literacy programme.
These lesson plans are designed to teach children key components of narrative in Year 4, Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11). They have been created to be as flexible as possible, so they can be customised to suit individual teaching styles.
Although these resources were created to meet UK curriculum standards, the subject matter is universal, and they can be used with students around the world.
This collection of flipcharts and resource packs are a fabulously rich and interactive way to get your class switched on to the road safety message. The great thing about the resources is that they are also themed to specific English lessons, so they can be used as an all year round resource.
It might be best to view these resources using Activprimary and as there is video included in many of the flipcharts, you will need an internet connection.
The lesson objectives for this series of flipcharts have been compiled into a PDF, available for you to download from below.
