Adding flash content from the internet to a flipchart page

Hi all,
This has been my holy grail for a while. I was sure there must be an easy way to do it! Thanks to the girls who helped me with navigating to a folder, here’s a new way to add flash/ shockwave items to a flipchart page.

As with anything from the internet, check copyright first.

To set it up for the first time:

• Open Internet Explorer, and go to Internet Options
• Go to Settings in Browsing History .
• Click on View Files. This will take you to the Temporary Internet Files folder.
• Click on the address bar at the top of the folder, and copy the address.

Now go to a flipchart:

• Get a picture of folder.
• Double click the picture to get the Object Edit Toolbox. Choose Properties
• Go to Actions. Choose File. Choose Open document or file from the drop down menu.
• In the navigator bar, paste the address for the Temporary Internet Files.
• Drag the pic of the folder to the third column of the toolbar.

To use it:

• Navigate to the webpage that has the flash content that you want.
• Go to your flipchart.
• Pull the folder from the third column of your toolbar and click on it.
• Arrange the windows so the temporary internet files folder is on top of your flipchart
• Drag the file you want (usually the top one in the list) onto the page. It will give the option of adding it as a placeholder – take this option.
• Voila! The file is in your flipchart! Now you can annotate over it, place over items next to it etc.

I realise this won’t float everyone’s boat J but thought there might be other people who would appreciate. Oh, and if there’s a quicker way you can break it to me… J

Putting an icon onto your toolbox - that is a terrific idea!!
I quite often trawl through looking for .swf files to put into my flipcharts. This makes it soooo much easier.

You can also navigate to the Temporary Internet file folder from the resource library (folder icon at top) and simply drag and drop from there too!

In fact you can navigate to any folder on your computer from the resource library - so another neat trick is to turn all the images in a webpage into a resource pack (well kind of)...

Use the File "Save Webpage As" option in your browser and then open the folder it creates from the AS/AP resource library and voila - every image/media etc. is there! Although the FLASH does not offer the option to embed... strange???

I did it with this page I am typing on now and now have a library full of smileys
