I recently had a situation where an instructor was using the ACTIVotes and one of them ran out of batteries in the middle of a voting session. I understand that there are low battery warnings etc., but this is something I think would be helpful (in a cost efficient world of course):

Voting mechanisms that have built in rechargable batteries. The carrying case could act as the charging base for them, with a retractable cord coming out of it. Also, some sort of built in retractable USB cord or WiFi that could automatically register the ACTIVotes. I realize this would be pricey and require software, but this would save battery replacement and registering hassles for the instructors that are concerned with the learning process and not technical maintenance.

I must say that I concur. I'm dreading my ACTIVote devices running out of battery power

Some good points raised. I will forward these to engineering. If it is any consolation, because the handsets contain three batteries they tend to last 18 months. I haven't changed my batteries yet and I've had my kit for 16 months and use it all the time.

I'll differ a bit.

I DJ and use batteries in my wirelss mics, GPS, and other devices. I have gone full circle back to just buying new batteries. I would believe that by putting a rechargable battery pack would cost more in the long run.

Unscrewing the ACTIVvotes and putting a new set of batteries in is not a hard thing to do and takes as much time as refilling the paper in your printer or a cartridge. Unfortunately there is lrge group of lasy teachers.

My plan....I will change out all batteries at the beginning of the school year!

Wouldn't putting a rechargeable battery pack increase the cost of the unit and decrease the life span unless the pack was replaceable????
