Hi

Using the idea of Branching Databases/Decision Tree type stuff......

Have put together this flipchart using the Fairy story stuff from AP2. Let me know how you get on with it.....

What a great idea, Margaret [clap] . You could use this branching database idea in all sorts of ways - different shapes, classifying vertebrates, invertebrates, mammals, insects, birds, clothing, the list is as long as your imagination!

Anyone done anything with this idea? +wave+

Hi Margaret,

I just had a look at this one and I think it looks great. I'd like to have a go at making something similar, but I don't know how to link within a flipchart yet. I'll try and find out and then give it a go.
Cheers,
Wendy

Hi Wendy,
I'm going to have a go at helping you link - hope it won't be too wordy, here goes:

- Go into Design Mode (click on Promethean man and then his friend, it will go red)
- Double click on the object that you want to make a link
- Click on Properties
- Choose "Actions" from the list
- Use the drop down menu to choose the kind of link you'd like to make. If it is to another page (as in Margaret's flipchart), click on "Another page" and then "Set" - this will allow you to see all your pages so you can see where you are linking to - click on the one you want.
- That's it! (remember to come out of Design Mode to use the link) [clap]

I hope that's helpful. Apologies if you knew bits of that, it's always hard to know where people are at. :)

Good luck - it'd be lovely to see your ideas!

Hi Emma,

Thanks so much for your help. I'm using ActivStudio 2 (so my Promethean Man doesn't have a friend :( ) but I used your instructions to work out the rest. I've made a flipchart for my class on a Biblical studies unit (I teach at a Christian school) but I realise that won't be much use to most teachers on here, so I'll have a go at something else using using this linking idea.
Cheers,
Wendy

Hey

Please share.... you will be surprised how your offering will inspire someone. Not everyone will want to use it as it is.. but I believe that sharing so that people don't have to start from a blank page is the possibly the most important aspect of seeing what others are doing.... +wave+

Don't be shy! It is always interesting to see what features and how people use the software too.... Please??? :D

Okay Margaret, you've convinced me :) Nice to be 'talking' to you BTW, I've been helped by reading lots of your posts both here and on the TES.

As you can see, it's almost exactly the same as your fairy story flipchart. I used people from the Old Testament and appropriate questions. Thanks for the idea Margaret, it was fun to learn the new skills like linking in the document etc.
The other change I made was the children didn't click on their chosen character to start. I plan to get the children to write down their chosen character and then answer the questions - then reveal the name of their character at the end.

Cheers,
Wendy
PS I just uploaded it and realised how big it is - sorry! I'll have to work out a way to reduce the size of the pics next time.

Hi Wendy, thanks for sharing your flipchart [clap] . Margaret was right, we use AS2 at our church (at our all-age, less formal service) so it is relevant to me :), I can at least use it to show the vicar and other service leaders what can be done with the software.

Thanks again,
Paul

Hi Paul, thanks for your encouragement! If I make any other Biblical studies stuff, it's good to know that some other people are able to use it.

Cheers,
Wendy.

Wendy1977

to create a link in AS2 all you need to do is:

double click on the image or text you want to link.
then click on the properties (Tick) icon,
select the option for action from the list
make sure all radio button is selected
then using the drop down menu
select open a file or document
then click on set
once on this box use either or use the ....(three dots button) to browse and find the file you want to link with. click ok
then click on the X

If you are still having problems I can send you a flipchart explaining how to do it. drop me an email. ????
