We have added a repository for Ubuntu 9.04.

To enable it, click on the System menu, and select
Software Sources

Select the tab saying "3rd Party Software" and click on Add

Enter the following exactly as is (cut and paste is the best way):

deb http://activsoftware.co.uk/linux/repos/ubuntu jaunty oss non-ossPress OK and close the Software Sources dialog.

You should now be asked to reload the information, and following a successful reload, you should be able to see our software in your package management system (Synaptic).

As usual, our software is called activ...
(activinspire, activdriver, etc...)

If you are going to use a board, install activtools and activdriver.
If you want Inspire, with or without a board, install activinspire.

You need to use Synaptic Package Manager.
Press Reload (top left)

After reloading the list, the software should appear in the list ready to install.

If it still doesn't work, could you find a file called /etc/apt/sources.list and post it in this forum, to check it has the right repository.

Another thing: are you running Ubuntu 64-bit ? The repository is 32-bit only.

Pretty sure that I am running 32 as my system will not support 64? here is the sources.list from nano

Let me know as I would like to be able to look at open source alternatives at my district although I must admit that I am pretty low level on linux system. took awhile to find the file this morning. The whole sudo thing throws me off when things dont work!

Stumbled on to the fix I guess? Had not checked the boxes next to the third party directories and it caused the files to show up? Took a while to download the program and resources at home but it is working and looks great. Now If I can just get Nvidia to play nice and get my second monitor back.

OK, we've got Jaunty on the netbook and installed the repositories. All works great using the USB cable to the board.

We really though want to use the Bluetooth connection, but have been unsuccessful in getting that to work.

Is there a trick to it? Is that not functional yet in the linux driver?

Thanks.

We are in the process of evaluating the amount of work to support Bluetooth. At the moment, it is USB only (you may be able to use wireless USB, but I am not sure what the Linux support is for Wireless USB, and I don't think the range is sufficient).

I've noticed that my installation of Ubuntu 9.04 blocks updates to your software using the update manager. To get around this problem, you have to use synaptic to update. FYI if anyone else has this problem.

When you say block, do you mean the updates don't appear, or does it explicitly say "Ity is not possible to update this software" ?

We always update with updater manager, synaptic or apt-get and it always updates successfully.
