I do not seem to be able to conceal only one quadrant with the reveal tool, i.e. a diagonal reveal. Is there a way?
When using the spotlight tool the cursor remains fixed to the spotlight so that nothing else can be done with the cursor. Is this correct?
Thanks
Elise

You could "reveal" using a Magic Eraser. This is basically an erased section grouped with a annotation. The two, when locked to together can move and act like a specialized spotlight tool.
Check out threads for the word "magic" and you can read more.

Or, position a triangle to do what you want, then move it out of the way. Or much cooler. use the transparency slider to reveal!

Hullo Lisa,
I do not seem to be able to erase text. Does the eraser only work on the pen tool?
Thanks

Hullo all the helpers,
Thanks for help. Just worked out translucency! This is such a great forum. Hope no one minds answering very basic questions.

Hi Elise,
The eraser tool in Activstudio 3 erases annotations (actually "masks them) as they are in the "top" layer of the layers of stuff on your page. Typically, text is created in the middle layer and so the eraser won't erase them. But if you move your text objects to the top layer, it will work.
To move the text to a different layer, double click on the text objects so that you see icons on it. There should be a properties icon as one of the choices. Click on it and the appearance section should allow you to change it to the top layer. (N.B. You can do the same thing by right-clicking on the text object and selecting the choice under edit>layer.)
See if this helps you do what you are wanting.

+wave+Lisa,
Thank you so much. Am getting more confident by the minute. Knew there was layering, but not clear on how to use it. Thanks so much.

How about using a rectangle (from the Resource Library) and placing it exactly where you want to cover the quadrant.
Pull on the object 'handles' to reveal from the top, side or bottom corner - rotate the object so the 'keep aspect ratio' option is in the position you want to begin dragging diagonally..
Hope this makes sense.

PS the solid square Spotlight in Inspire does exactly what you want...

+wave+Hilary and all others who gave suggestions,
They all worked. Thank you.
What a great long weekend I had learning more. We celebrated Freedom day yesterday.
+wave+Hilary,
Not exactly sure about your spotlight answer. Was it in answer to my question about the cursor attached to the spotlight or in answer to the quadrant question?

Nothing like a long weekend to play with the ActivSoftware ;)
My answer was in response to your question ' I do not seem to be able to conceal only one quadrant with the reveal tool, i.e. a diagonal reveal. Is there a way?'
Sorry it wasn't too clear.
