Hi
A company called Edpax have put together flipcharts from Reception to Year 6 currently for Maths.
This software has been designed and built using ACTIVprimary with teacher/pupil familiarity in mind.
I have also put together a flipchart with sample pages from each year group.
Let us know how you get on and what you think?

They look pretty good - I'm sure they would get the less confident users of ACTIV more familiar with the different tools and the ways in which the software can be used to support teaching of different objectives.

If you follow Margarets link to the EDpaX Maths page, you can download a free [clap] sample flipchart for each year group (Reception to Year 6) . EDpaX are also adding voting to the flipcharts so they have now been upgraded to the Powered kitemark.
What I really like about them is the sheer quantity of materials - 15,000 pages in total and they are all fully editable so you can amend them in any way you want, pull out specific pages, add pages etc.
Why not download the free samples and let us know what you think.

Hi Margaret, will you forward for me too? I liked the samples and looked at their site but couldn't find a place to buy them or a price. I also wasn't sure what correlates to 3rd grade in the states. Thanks!

Okay have forwarded to Sonya, who will sort this for you.
For info though
Reception are 4/5 year olds
Year1 are 5/6 year olds
Year2 are 6/7 year olds
etc to Year 6 which are 10/11 year olds.
Does that help?
I have a feeling that your 1st grade is our Reception....???:confused:+wave+

My 3rd graders are 8 & 9 years old so I think that's your Year 3 which should be really easy to remember for me :) Thanks!

I think the free flipcharts are a great resource for teachers to download. However, I wouldn't order them. Promethean Planet Resources are just as creative and interactive as these. AND, they are free for Planet members. A Planet member can download as many as they wish without having to pay a dime[clap]!

I know there are plenty of "free" flipcharts on Promethean Planet and some are really great. I have submitted some of my own even. The "free" flipcharts available from Edpax aren't "free". They are samples. The last page of each one says "Do not save this flipchart". They are just examples of what the packages are like. I have really liked what I have seen because the flipcharts are long enough to be used in several lessons and contain some really nicely constructed pages. I would consider purchasing them to add the pages to my own flipcharts about the different topics.

I only viewed Margaret's attached flipchart by Edpax (no "Do not save message" on the last page). I have since logged onto the weblink and viewed the others. I think they are great for encouraging teachers to teach with the Activboard/flipcharts.
But I just was not blown away enough to even remotely want to spend money on them.
We have the software at our fingertips to create flipcharts at the level displayed. The only difficulty is allocating time from your normal daily routine to create them. I have seen many flipcharts on the Planet with this level of proficiency. And if you have a question about how to make your flipchart more interactive, just post a question on the forum and someone will give you the needed advice. Spending money on something that we already have at our fingertips is not a wise investment to me.
I have viewed many other teachers' flipcharts that sparked more creative ideas in the creation my fipcharts. And with the ever increasing amount of flipcharts regularly submitted, more and more educators will be inspired to make more creative and interactive flipcharts.
I just like the idea of a common unity between fellow educators from all over the world working toward a common goal - student achievement with the help of Promethean's products. Knowing that other educators are willing to share their flipcharts is a motivational factor for others to contribute.
Now, other software that compliments Activstudio/Activprimary is a completely different issue all together. I love that our system purchased a subscription to BrainPop! It is amazing to see how BrainPop's clips, quizzes, and activities easily intertwine with concepts presented in my flipcharts. Incorporating BrainPop only enhances my lesson to give that added "umph" to increase student participation and learning.

Hi Cindy,
As a simple rule, American to English is -1! ie your 4th Grade, our Year 3 etc. I worked this out pretty quick when I worked over in the States. Gets confusing when you hit K then Pre-K, then our Nursery is a year below that! (You don't have a grade!!)
As to EDpaX, I personally adore them. Our classes have a very high EAL content and they find the simplicity of EDpaX really appealing. Yes, I could make similar flipcharts, probably with more wow features, but I don't use these as the be all and end all. I mix and match. I particularly like the Science ones, where they contain a whole unit of work, and also the MFL and TEFL ones.
I don't find them particularly expensive, especially as we're a very large primary school (734 on roll). The problem with the 'free' flipcharts is that you have to be on Planet to download them! I did a massive project about a year or so ago, where I pretty much downloaded all the primary flips and went through them, sorting out ones I thought were appropriate, and editing them to ensure English spelling, consistancy etc. I ended up with about 1000 and saved them all so that the appropriate year groups could access them. Do they? Like heck! Those that will download them, use them, those that don't, won't. It's a constant battle with the technophobes, but they do seem to work better when you hand them a CD and say use that! EDpaX won't be everyone's cup of tea, but for me & my school, they're brilliant! :D+wave+

Thanks, Alison! I've downloaded lots and lots like you and edited, etc. but sometimes it would be nice to have some match the curriculum for my grade level exactly. It looks like they're not available to the US anyway.

Hi,
I have spoken to our partners at EDpaX and they are happy to supply these flipcharts directly to the US. If anyone from the US would like to buy these math flipcharts please send me a private message and I will send you the EDpaX contact details so that you can buy them directly from EDpaX.
Just to let you know - EDpaX are currently in the process of converting all their maths flipcharts to make them suitable for the US eg changing the spellings, currency and years to grade levels. They have not completed this yet but they have already completed kindergarten and a couple of other grades so far (I don't know which). So when you contact them let them know which grade level you want and they will be able to advise if this is currently available and if not which UK year is most suitable.
Hope this is helpful:)
