This seems like the perfect vehicle for all of you who have been following the Flippy/Flippette thread!

I would love to collaborate on a project through ActivRoom. I am currently working in a K-5 building with Prometheans in every classroom. Any project would be fine with me, but preferrably something simple like the one's I have seen on Promethean Planet, ie: (Introduce, facts, etc...) Just waiting for someone to connect with. Let me know what I need to do in order to participate. Thanks!

I just registered as a new member. Is there any good advice you could give me about where to start. I am an elementary education basic skills teacher. I teach reading/lanuage arts and math. I saw some very nice demonstrations and our school just purchases an ActiveBoard through a grant. Most of us are anxious to share this experience with our students.
thanks, A. Rogers

Since you are new, it may be useful for you to explore various ways that elementary school teachers are making best use of their Activclassrooms.

I would suggest you start by going to the Members section of Planet under "Teacher Feature." Here is the link:
http://www.Prometheanplanet.com/server.php?show=nav.1135

There you will find the most recent Teacher Features and a link to the archive of them. Each Teacher Feature includes a short video of that teacher teaching a particular lesson. If you like the idea, you can then download that lesson that he/she taught.

These teachers really know what they are doing and seeing them in action with their students really will give you a good idea of the possible interactions that students can make with a lesson.

Let us know what you think!

You can read more about ActivRoom here:

http://www.Prometheanplanet.com/server.php?show=nav.16582

It is a partnership between elluminate (and their vROOM service) and Promethean from what I see. It allows you to "share screens" on line. So basically you can see their flipchart and they can see yours! Plus ability to see video and hear voice as well.

There should be some videos showing this in action on this page:

I have searched but can no longer find...somewhere either in Planet News/Events or the Adventures of Flippy or Where is Flippy there was an interactive world map that you could zoom into and find ActivClassrooms in your immediate geographical area, down to the number of Promethean boards in your town and neighboring towns. Does anyone else remember this and please could someone point me in the right direction or post a link to this map? With much appreciation

It is my understanding that the contest is over. I think it finished at the end of 2009.

I think you are indeed correct, Heather, but it is the interactive world map I am interested in and not the contest (although I had fun hunting for Flippy!). I would imagine that map has to be archived somewhere; I wonder who knows??????

I don't even know if I'm posting this on the correct forum. Please forgive me if I'm not!!:o I just went back to teaching kindergarten in Nov. after 8 years away to be a mom. I have used Smartboard, but this Promethean board is new! Having started after the schoolyear began, I've had no training and none available until summer. On Smartboard I made games like putting sight words behind a picture (star). The children would tap the star and it would reveal the word. If they could read it they left it revealed, if not, they covered it back for another student to chose. I've tried and tried to figure this out, but am having NO luck. Does ActivInspire have anything like that available? Also, how is the best way to learn a little until I can go to a class? I LOVE using this in my classroom and feel the kids learn so much more if they are actively participating. So far, I've been able to import things I make on Smartboard (since that is the one I know), but the reveal game didn't work. I'd really appreciate any help I could get!!!????

Welcome to the forum! There are tons of ways to "reveal" hidden words using the ActivInspire software. You may want to watch a few of the Activtips here:

http://www.prometheanplanet.com/server.php?show=nav.1147

The ones called "hidden text" and "object browser" might be two to watch first!

I am looking for a resource pack of blank graphs such as bar, circle, or line. Has anyone found something?
