We have 20 of the new radio whiteboards and two classes have the new round orange and grey handsets.
The problem I am having is to do with registering the handsets with activote. I have setup Activstudio2 and it works fine until you come to register the handsets. When registering it loads up the old handset registration tool not the new tool. This is when a user is logged onto to the network, however when logged on to the computer as a local user, and the the same procedure is used then I get the new registartion tool for the handsets.
To see how I could remedy this I deleted the old Activstudio.Net client off the PC and deleted the users Activstudio profiles, and still the old handset registration tool loaded.

Am experiencing the same problem - have sent you an email Michelle. Can you also tell me if there is an instruction/training manual available for the activote system.
Thanks

Your ACTIVote devices should come in a large silver box. Open the box and on the lid-side of the box there will be some foam. This foam should pull back to reveal a compartment with a manual in, and a screwdriver. I don't know why there's a screwdriver there but that's not what we're discussing. :p
Hope this helps.

Hi
I have found at several schools that when logged on as a teacher or pupil the AV icon in the bottom right hand corner is missing. This needs to be there so the software can talk through the driver to the board. This file is located in
C:\Program Files\ActivSoftware\Activdriver\activcontol.exe
Also if you are doing device registration with these users you need them to be given write access the following folder.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ACTIV Software\Device Registration
With regards to the screwdriver this is use to change the batteries. 3 x aaa (Alkaline Please)

Have contacted Michelle on two occasions and each time she stated that she would get Dan Turner to get in touch with me directly. Have not heard anything since so if at all possible I'll put my e-mail address at the end of this reply and hopefully Dan Turner can drop me a quick mail and we can get the ball rolling on giving me a hand sorting out my little quirks.

Received the updated version of Activstudio2 (2.0.345 off the top of my head) and tried a new install on a Laptop. Ran from the cd the Professional Edition setup using English (United Kingdom) as the setup language and also the Activdriver setup using English (United Kingdom) as the setup language. After the reboot the system tray Icon for the Activboard is present and stating it is running. All this is being done as a local user and not logged on to the schools Windows 2000 network. I am using an Activote flipchart which a teacher has produced on the school's network. The Activote device registration runs all ok and can even use a named list of pupils. Running the flipchart and using Activote runs perfectly with no errors. Its a different ball game when come to use when logging on as a teacher user onto the schools network and running Activstudio2 and Activote. Do exactly the same procedure as above but when you come to use the same flipchart it states "Your present hardware and software combination is not permitted for this country". Surely this error should not come up because all the setups were done for the United Kingdom. Is there anything I am missing or is there anything somebody has found which can help.
Thanks in advace.

The problem you are having is due to access permissions when logged on to your network, when logged on locally you have more rights hence ACTIVote will work. If you look at Dan's reply earlier in the chain you are having the same problem it should be resolved by getting write permissions to the folders mentioned in Dan's reply if not tech support will be able to tell you which folders need to have their permissions changed.

The users when logged onto our network have local machine administrative rights so thta should not stop it. Have verified this and the users are local administrators. Would be a great help if anything else is known.
Many Thanks
