Today I was working with some teachers and a question came up about using the graph resources.

The teacher had brought up onto the flipchart one of the graphs with squares on and was wanting to colour it in square by square. She was using the fill tool, however, which will not fill the individual squares.

My work around was to show her how to bring on a square, size it to the correct size of the graph square, duplicate it many times and then save the stack of squares so that they can be used from the object tray or brought onto the page and used as necessary.

It felt slightly long winded and I did point out that probably a better way of working on a graph with children would be to use a graphing program - RM Starting Graph or 2Simple for example.

Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions or comments about this? +wave+

If you're just crating a block graph, a single square that can then be made "taller" or "shorter" in design mode by pulling the top handle works well - depends on your objective and the age of the children.
