The school I work at has had promethean white boards for about 5 years. Each school year we disconnect the boards from the computer and from the electricity.....Nothing is done with the board for about 2 months.......Every year when we reconnect the board to the computers and electricity....WE Always get that that board isn't recognized. Nothing is changed, just reconnected.
Is there something I am doing wrong when reconnecting them to get this message?
Can anyone tell me what to do to get the boards to be recognized?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
thank you again.

It could be that you have an older V3 or earlier driver and USB connection? If this is the case then you must use the same usb port as previously used.
You'll need to be more specific about the driver version and connection method if this is not the case.

Hello, John. Ensure that you've connected the power prior to the USB connection, and if that does not work initially, cycle the power followed by the USB connection. Check also to ensure that your driver is up to date, the latest versions are 4.1.13.18 for PC and 2.3.147 for Mac. You can update here (http://www.prometheanworld.com/us/server/show/nav.2290), and before installing the update ensure that your board is not connected. If you're still not having any luck, check the connections along the USB cable, there should be at least one connection at the back of the board and one at the computer, but if there are other connections in the line (ie if you are using extensions or adapters) it may be worth your while to try a direct connection. If you're still not having any luck at that point, I'd say call tech support.

Thank you for the help....it worked after I downloaded the newest drive.....
May I ask you one question....
What does it mean when the light sensor on the top left of the board is blinking white and blue?
Thank you again for your help

I'm frankly not certain. If it is just blinking blue, then there may be an issue with the power, and this is in any event the place I'd start, probably by swapping cables with another board.

Thank you for your help...I tried switching cables......I tried changing boards......lol......the room it is in must be possessed.....I will keep trying different power cords....thought it might have something to do with the bluetooth, went in another room with a board and tried accessing the bluetooth, couldn't make that board blink....
I just have never seen the light on the board blinking like that....
will try emailing promethean see what they can tell me...
Thank You Again...

Because I share my board with other teachers when I'm out of the room I have had trouble trying to reconnect via Bluetooth verses USB a lot of the time. Yesterday I wanted to make the Bluetooth connection and was set up and everything was perfect BUT could not make that Bluetooth connection. I called Promethean Tech and the last option we tried was to totally delete that ProActiv device on the Bluetooth Preferences and add it again. THAT WORKED for me. [clap][clap] I'm up and running with my Bluetooth connection for another fantastic year.
Correct me if I'm wrong but if it blinks blue that usually indicates Bluetooth. Otherwise white and orange is USB. I am so excited to get back into the classroom to work with the board. {} Have a GREAT year everybody!

Hello, Cheryl. You are correct, a solid blue light will indicate a Bluetooth connection and the board should blink blue when trying to connect via BT. However, the board should not blink blue of its own accord unless you hover the pen over the flame with the R-click button depressed.
Though, it is possible that this has occurred when trying to calibrate. If so, try calibrating again with another pen, or with this one but being certain not to press that orange button.
White light – everything working fine
Solid blue - there is a problem with your power - probably that your power brick has gone bad
Flashing blue - the board is looking for a Bluetooth connection
Red and stays red - there is some problems with electronics
At the conference in Boston I was in the class on care and feeding of the Activboard. if I took my notes correctly, the above list should show what the light colors mean, however, I'm not sure I got them right. Perhaps someone might be able to give us a complete menu of color meanings.
