Copying and pasting from Word

Today I have been trying to copy text from Word and paste it into ActivPrimary. This has worked before on other PCs. However, what is happening is that I can only paste the text as an image, NOT as editable text. I can put the text into PowerPoint and copy it across into ActivPrimary with no problems at all. Please can anyone suggest why this is? I am using Windows XP and Office XP.

This has been asked before from someone who is a proficient and effective user of the software where she has had an issue identical to the one you are raising.

There must be a setting somewhere on this partic. pc/laptop which is causing probs. I am afraid we never did resolve it for her and so sorry can't help here!

How interesting - I was recently asked about this same issue by two others. What's slightly stranger is that my laptop and one of those with this problem were bought and set-up at the same time in the same way and mine works fine and hers doesn't.

Hi,

Copying and pasting from Word (or Tinternet, or any other package) can be done by:

1. Enter Design mode in ActivPrimary.

2. Go to your application and copy the text using the usual method.

3. Return back to the flipchart.

4. Start the text tool and 'Right Click'. You should see 'Paste' come up.

5. Paste the text onto the flipchart. The text is fully editable.

Remember you must be in Design mode to do this.

Me too. I've just tried to paste from Word XP and failed. It works fine if I save the file as a .txt document and open it in WordPad.
I note that this thread is 2 years old. Has it been solved yet? I'm using ActivStudio2.5, not ActivPrimary, but found this thread through a search.
I'm afraid that the suggested solution of entering Design Mode etc. means nothing to me - I assume that's for a previous version.

When right clicking on the Activprimary flipchart page you should have a choice of pasting as text or as image. if you haven't maybe you need to upgrade Activprimary. I'm using 2.5 build 67.

Ah, but then you have to apply all your formatting to the text. I want to use one slide of text as a template and then copy and paste the text in to each text box, hoping that it will pick up the formatting of the existing text. It works fine if I'm copying from a TXT file but not a Word one.
(I'm using AS2.5 Build 72)
