Hi, can anyone help me. I started inserting video links when i had activestudio V 3.5.25 At that point in time i was able to include links to mp4 videos, but not mwv videos. So i down loaded lots of mp4 videos ready to use in my flipcharts.

I have since updated activestudio to v3.614 and have found that i am no longer able to link mp4 videos or asx videos, but i am able to link mwv videos. My problem is two fold. ......

a) Is there a newer version of the softwre that will allow me to install mp4 documents? (Is there likely to besoon?) or is there a quick way that i can convert these documents into mwv documents, so that i can use them in my flipcharts? (i have quite a few!!!!)

b) Now when i open one of the original flipcharts that i made using the earlier activote program : it allows me to open the mvw documents, and after the video has ended, i can re-enter the flipcharts, but if any of the MP4 or axa documents are opened, this automatically shuts the flipchart that i am in the middle of using. I then have to re start the flipchart. Very frustrating. Can you help please.

Thanks Chris

We're aware of this problem and working on a solution to be included in a forthcoming maintenance release.

Please hurry with the video fix. I have tried the codec fixes as suggested in the forum (ensharpen) I have used various file types - .avi, MOV, mpeg swf. and all have problems- either they crash when I insert as a video placeholder or flash placeholder, or they open the dedicated player (windows media player) and after viewing the movie I have to reopen the flipchart whcih automatically closes. :(

On another tack, when I put a link in to launch Google Earth it works and opens google but it closes activestudio. Any ideas?

Hi Nigel

I have been through the 'check for update' in the support tab of the dashboard and am told I am running the latest version of activestudio v3.6.14 with drivers 4.1.13.18.

I need some assistance as I am giving a couple of sessions at an upcoming IWB conference and don't really want to be reopening a flipchart after showing the video that I have 'stored in the flipchart'. I have tried many combinations of video placeholders/flash placeholders and embedded videos with .avi, MOV, swf.

As I will be handing out dvd's as a user guide to google earth and social bookmarking, will I need to burn copies of the videos to disc first then insert them from this location into the flipchart. Because if I 'store file in flipchart' the link is broken when running it from the disc.

Hope there is a simple solution!!

Have you checked the settings for linked file hosting?

This has options for how the software deals with embedded/included files.

Menu > Studio Settings > Linked File Hosting

Couldn't believe I overlooked that! I can now burn a cd and have the video run in wmplayer without closing the flipchart. This works as either a linked video or linked 'other' file embedded and saved.

I can also get the initial video (or swf) to play in a video/flash placeholder if I right click and adjust the video acceleration to nil, but they won't play after the placeholder has been saved. I only get a still image and when it goes to play I get nothing.

mpeg plays as a very degraded image if I save as a linked file.
Hope this helps with the bugs left in the placeholders.
Thanks for your help.

You then need to check the setting for high quality video and images

Studio Settings> Flipchart Objects > High Quality > (placeholder)

Suspect it is off.
