Here are some software titles I find useful on the Activboard for special needs students. Most have scanning built in for students whose use a switch to access the computer. One program, CrossScanner, allows scanning with nonscanning software like ActivStudio.

Boardmaker 6 (http://www.mayer-johnson.com)
Clicker 5 (http://www.cricksoft.com)
Classroom Suite (http://www.intellitools.com)
Balanced Literacy (http://www.intellitools.com)
CrossScanner (http://www.rjcooper.com) - scanning software
IntelliSwitch (http://www.madentec.com/products/intelliswitch.php) - allows switch access wirelessly

I would be very interested in knowing how you use these programs on your board. I also work with children with special needs.+wave+

I am curious also. I have not figured out how to get Boardmaker and Writing with Symbols to work with my interactive boards yet. ???? Would love your help.

Wordshark is a popular tool with many in our school... great on the board.

I work with KS3 and 4 pupils. Does anybody know of good ActivBoard resources for these age groups? A lot of the best Special Needs software seems to be for KS1 and KS2

+wave+larrysamiam - Writing with symbols will work because the pen is the mouse and the keyboard is a replication of your laptop/pc keyboard..... BUT it will not recognise through handwriting recognition. Can you be more precise in what it is you would like it to do.... maybe I am not understanding

I am new at this thing. I tried to create a flipchart using Writing With Symbols and was unable to do so. I am not sure if I was doing something wrong. BUT...I should be able to link to a document I have done with Writing with Symbols, correct? Thanks! :D
