Is there any progress on the new training and accreditation procedures for AS2? From September I will have 17+ schools to train, as well as a number of trainers to re-train!
We've had Promethean boards in east Manchester for 5 years and have spent a lot of time on training for AS1. The new product means a lot of re-training, so if anyone has any advice on a strategy for rolling out AS2 and appropriate training it would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. graemlins/wave.gif

Hello Rob,

I have now received a copy of the AS2 Training Manual. If you contact training@tdspromethean.com I'm sure Stewart or a colleague will sort you out.
Maybe we could help each other out on our training strategies and programs - if you are interested in some collaboration let me know. It's early days for us in East Manchester, but we have given the software to the schools and must now decide how to roll out the training. Promethean's new documentation will be very helpful smile.gif

As John has said earlier, the new accreditation process is due to be released shortly, keep an eye on the web site for further news.
The training manual is included as a pdf file on the latest installation cd's (build 292 and beyond). It is a tutorial based manual with the relevant competence based check list at the end as before. This will lead to a 'professional user' certificate. At present, staff at Promethean Centres of Excellence have been sent a paper version of the manual, but for general release it is available only as a purchase, price to be decided.

Forgive me for appear a little dumb but you refer to 2 manuals in your last posting, one that comes free with the cd's and one which is available for purchase, are these 2 manuals the same or different?
I have the activstudio 2 PE Training Manual (an introduction to activestudio 2) which has ten tutorials in, is the one you are refering to the same or different.
In response to Robs posting, ive over 200 people to train at the end of the month, my line manager has arrange 3 x 1.5hrs sessions and i'm limited to what collaboration i could do with you on this, as i'm under his command so to speak - i'll have a work with him and get back to you.

Just tried to email training@tdspromethean.com, but received a message that the delivery failed. Is that the correct email address for training related enquiries?

Well, now the whole site's changed the address might be training@prometheanworld.com, but I don't know...
I can't seem to find even a general email address on the new site - it might be an idea to list the emails for key departments, eg sales, training etc, as some of us do the bulk of our communicating online/by email!
BTW, I like the look of the new site - took me a while to find the forum, though, but now I know where to look!

Hi Rob
As you can see we have been busy with the new sites and since it all came online in all languages at once we have many issues that can only be addressed now that we can relinquish the old sites contact details - email lists is one and I take on board your idea of having a generic contact page that shows all contacts for all sections - good idea.
Since the email account is brand new as of yesterday we will be creating lots of generic emails such as info@ training@ but since all countries now share the same email account we have to be very careful how we implement this. For now all training requests can be sent to me cliff.farrand@prometheanworld.com and I will forward them on to the appropriate person.

Thanks Cliff. Keep up the great work
I like the pictures over each section - one features one of our pupils, so she'll be "chuffed"!

I sent a general email last week about transferring my accreditation from ActivStudio1 to ActivStudio2 without having to redo the training but have had no reply as yet.
I want to be a trainer/developer as my school wants to become a Centre of Excellence as we now have 13 boards and that number will increase in november. In addition to this we are a Specialist School in Maths and Computing. I have been running basic training in the school over the last 3 months but want to be official!
I was also wondering how you get hold of the Developer Edition of the software as that is mentioned in the accreditation conditions for trainer/developer.

I think the Developer Edition is due for release soon, but not available just yet.

Thanks - kinda makes it a bit difficult to get the top level of accreditation then I guess. smile.gif
Anyone else able to tell me about my other queries?

Wish I could help you Sonja! Wondering when the developer edition will be available?

I am currently working with Sonya to achieve trainer accreditation and Centre of Excellence for her school. My colleague, Stewart Hargreaves, and I are happy to support other teachers and schools with this process and answer specific training and accreditation questions. As a rough guide I work in the South and Stewart in the North of the country. We can be contacted directly through Promethean or by email.

Can anyone give me the name of a trainer in Northern Ireland? At the moment I am trying to stay one step ahead of staff, but I would love to have an 'expert' provide more structured training.

Well Gill, could you help me and if possible email the PDF of the AS2 Training Manual? I am in the middle of delivering our first AS2 training now, and it would be handy if I could give the new AS2 enthusiasts some documentation by the end of it next week. Been trying to get hold of it for months now, and it still isn't on the site as a download. My email is in my profile - I have enabled the vcard to allow other users to view my details.
Or perhaps it could be uploaded here as an attachment or something, until the download on the site is sorted out?
That's a general point for everyone - if you try to send any Promethean staff an email via the board, it says that they've specified that they don't want to receive email from other members. I think that's just the default setting rather than a deliberate setting(!) - so any people who want to receive email through the board need to go into the User CP and change a few settings - this is all about communication, after all!
Cliff Farrand

You are right - the default setting of not receiving emails has been applied to all users - I will ensure that all staff enable the option to be emailed via the board.
As for training manual - the web development team have never been asked to offer this as a download - maybe it is not allowed to be freely distributed - I will find out and post here.

I was referring to another thread where John said Promethean would make it available as a download:
http://www.prometheanworld.com/common/html/vb_forum/showpost.php?p=1890&postcount=5
What's the normal timescale for such things being done?!

Documents being added to the web such as download version of training manuals would happen very quickly once authorisation was granted - so that is not the hold up.
I do know that due to the re-branding of Promethean that all documentation is being updated or re-written. I was unable to talk to John today since he is away from the office but I will do so on his return.
If the documents are ready and can be posted on the website - I will do so and I will inform this forum. :)

I have spoken with Stuart Hargreaves who informs me that yes the training manual will be made available on the website once it has been rebranded - this is being worked on currently - so expect that it will be made available in the near future.
I will keep pushing to get this released and will post here as soon as I have uploaded it to the UK website.
[EDIT] +wave+ I have just been that I shall be given a web copy of the training manual by the end of the day today so I will post it today if that promise is kept.
