i got a new macbook. =)

i have some questions, does anyone knows if :

1. ACTIVBOARD and ACTIVPRIMARY V3 works on mac os x leopard?

2. The activprimary seems to be loading quiet slowly, what is the suggested ram i should have to allow it to run smoothly?

3. I've been using activprimary on windows previously.. all the work if brought over to the mac, will they have any problems?

4. Is there any difference in a activprimary v3 on windows and a activprimary v3 on mac? like functions, features etc?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Hi ladyhsu,

I don't know the answer to your second question but here's answers to the others.

1. A new version of the Mac software is due to be release toward the end of Jan, which will fully support Leopard.

2. ?

3. There will only be issues arising from "details". eg if your Windows flipcharts were created at a different screen resolution/on a wide screen. The vast majority of the functionality should be fine.

4. Again, there are differences in the details. The biggest details being the look of the software, some differences in the arrangement of icons, some of the Preferences are different to make them relevant for Mac's operating system. There's nothing that will completely phase you but I'd advise that you have a good play with it to make sure that none of these details catch you by surprise.

Our full set of mac manuals can be found here (http://www.prometheanworld.com/uk/server/show/nav.2086). The Windows and Mac manuals are essentially the same. If you compare them, therefore, you can also see the slight differences between the two versions. For the Windows manuals you'll have to log in to the Activprimany Foundation Skills course on www.prometheanlearning.com (http://www.prometheanlearning.com).

Hope that helps

2. I don't think that the slow loading is ram related although I would recommend that you have a minimum 1gb of ram and optimally 2gb. That is what I had on my gen 1 macbook (core duo 2ghz,) and it did fine. I now have a macbook pro and too am awaiting the update.

I used the same computer as mine with 3gb of ram at an apple store and the the thing was blazing fast!!!

Late January for the software update though.

Encountering "Relaunch" problem after installation.. using the ActivPrimary software on Mac OS X Leopard is a common thing to all. HOWEVER, Don't be =( disppointed, you just need a bit of patience uploading the software via Promethean's web. It might be slower or faster, it depends on your internet connections. In case, the connection had been disconnected and had been re-connected again for few minutes, for most cases, definitely you will have a broken file, you need to do the downloading once again. But, I guarantee, once everything had been done, you will be enjoying using the ActivPrimary software.... :)

We have mabooks and macbook pros at my school and have updated to the latest version 10.5.6. We encounter a few problems. However, restarting our machines seems to cure them. Carol Taylor, Snow Hill Primary School
