Installation Problems

I am having difficulty getting the PE version to load onto a laptop- it will load and run, but I cannot access resources (This is with windows XP)
Also with Windows 98 the program freezes as soon as I try to do anything remotely clever like special page turns or using the clock- help! redface.gif
