Hi

Is it right that locking is not an option?

Been trying to lock an image to a front page and can't find it so presumably it isn't there

Hi

You can lock an object. Right click on the object you wish to lock and go to edit.
There is a lock option in that menu.

Then when you need to unlock it just right click again and choose edit/unlock.

I also do right click - edit - layer - Lock on background

not sure what the exact difference is between the two....

If you lock an object, it becomes locked in its current layer. It will stay in front of objects "further back" in the layer or objects on a lower layer.
(Remember AS2 has 4 layers, see Help).

If you lock an object on the background, the object is moved to the background layer and then locked. This object will then always appear behind other unlocked objects.

Example 1
Lets say you want to drag a rabbit out of a hat.
Add images of a rabbit and a hat from the Resource Library.
Lock the hat. Move the rabbit behind the hat. You will always be able to get the rabbit without selecting the hat.

Example 2
Add images of a bird and the sun from the Resource Library. Select the sun and lock it on the background. Now the bird can never be placed behind the sun.

Its brilliant to have this sort of facility for such flexibility of layering. I have to say that the development team have added lots of subtle changes and extra features such as Nigel has explained above. If you haven't turned it off already, the "Did you Know" box at startup explains a few more.
