I have many transparencies that I use with an overhead for my reading series. I have scanned about 30 of them and saved as jpegs.

I can open activprimary and then go to desktop mode where I can open one of the images. I can then annotate it with a pencil.

This is for 2nd graders.

Two problems/questions:

1) I cannot get the pen size small enough to write within the given blocks, lines, spaces as I could when using it as a transparency.

2) When I move the image up on the desktop so I can see the bottom questions, the annotations do not move with the image.

So, question is: Can I lock the annotations to the image easily,

Can I somehow get a smaller pencil size?

and is there another way of doing this?

Saving as a resource and using the image from within activprimary?

Thanks..

You may want to consider breaking the transparencies up so that they are spread across several pages versus being on one page.

You can do that with the camera tool.

They reason is that 1)the image can be displayed larger and easier to read by the students ...and easier to use the pen and 2)it will fit on a wide page versus a long one (which you are having issues with.

Is this a possibility for you?

I know what you mean about having the page move up but the annotations staying behind. My students always get a laugh from this when it happens.

Would it work for you to use your scans as Desktop Flipcharts rather than Overlays? The annotations will move with the page and you can choose to save or discard the page when you're done.

I think I found the answer to my questions. I am going to scan all of the transparencies and save them as a PDF. That way I can put them directly into a flipchart. The annotations will stay with them as I use the scroll bar.

Don't know why I didn't think of that sooner.

Just thought I would reply in case others may use this.

I just reread post from tomerf and was wondering what you meant by a "desktop flipchart". Would be interested in trying this. If I have a jpg file can you explain how to easily make it into a "desktop flipchart".

Thanks.

Hi barrr

I think Tomerf was getting confused between Activprimary and Activstudio because you can't have Desktop Flipcharts in Activprimary!
