This is excellent.... Wikipedia for schools - a selection of the best articles from Wikipedia arranged into a safe, browsable online library for kids by a children's charity.

Topics are easy to navigate and arranged around the National Curriculum and content cannot be 'vandalised' as the original wikipedia can.

As with all things 'wiki' - they can make no guarantee of content validity.. but it could easily form an ideal research supplement and source of content for flipcharts - there are over 24,000 excellent images!

The CD version has full resolution images - and a version with thumbnail images can be downloaded.

Impressive!

Sounds great Mark.
Just to say if people have not yet discovered www.wikispaces.com they should head over and have a look. As educators you can sign up for free spaces which are private to you and your invited members. I have been using a wikispace for revision work and more able extension tasks. I would put the link here but the beauty of wikispaces is that you can make it completely secure access! It is pretty simpla to run - I now only monitor it and 3 of my Yr11s act as moderators. FAB resource.

I think the whole web 2.0 phenomenon needs some proper case studies, articles written about it and shared.

It is where the kids are at!

FYI - Google Docs has just added their 'presentations' tool - which can create browser based presentations with 'chat' to public or private audiences from activstudio flipcharts exports.
