As a French teacher who will be using a new Promethean board this fall, I would like to know if I will be able to play my French DVDs in my multi-system DVD player on my board.

Basically yes - although the board will merely be a projection surface if the dvd is played through a system independent of the computer. If you play a dvd througn thecomputer attached to the board you will have pen functionality to control playback etc.

Most projector systems have a video input for dvd / vhs systems and you simply toggle between computer and video source via the projector remote.

Well, the reason I ask is that in the past, when I've played DVDs from France, here in the U.S. you have to have not only a multi-system DVD player, you also have to have a special multi-systerm TV that can switch between HTSC, PAL and SECAM. I've had one of those TVs.

So what's unclear to me is if that will also be the case for the projector. Perhaps I will need a mult-system projector???

Is anyone out there playing DVDs from zone 2, who lives here in the U.S. and is using a multi-system DVD player?
