When designing flipcharts from scratch it's easy to add things to the page and use a lot of features and many different text styles and fonts.

Before you know it the page looks very cluttered and messy!

So my tip is a rule for keeping things simple when designing flipcharts:

Never use more than 3 colours on a page and only use 2 fonts

You might find just by using a different size or style of the same font is equally as effective than using several different fonts.

The same goes for colours - different tints or shades of the same colour can be equally as effective and a bit more subtle than several clashing colours.

I second this rule!

I'd apply the rule to whole flipcharts. Try to stick to two fonts and three colours throughout a topic and you've helped to give a subject a strong visual identity, helping your students' learning...

Using some of the templates, may also ease authoring and nudge some ideas too....+wave+ By having some templates ready during your lesson you could pull thse up as and when you need them, and this may also raise expectations from the children.
