Hi there,

I am not sure of the best way to explain this so here we go. It's really worthwhile exploring.

When installing ActivStudio I reversed the 'My' and 'Shared' folders such that when a teacher clicks on 'My' they access all the items that come shipped with the board.. this incudes a modified image gallery titled using curriculum headings mapped to our Australian syllabus (there was heaps of overlap with the UK stuff).

I then setup the 'Shared' resources to map to a network location that all users have rights to. This way, a whole department or year level can use the 'shared' resources to collaborate.
eg: Teacher develops a flipchart in the staff room and saves it to 'Shared Flipcharts / Year 4' and it is ready and available to use in the actual classroom - no mucking around.

I find this especially useful for cross-grade collaboration such that teachers and students 'share' what they're doing AND it there work is all backed up automatically on the school server (cause the Shared location is on the server not the local computer).

Feel free to e-mail me at mauricec@sceggs.nsw.edu.au if you want to clarify. :D

Thanks Maurice,

This sounds like a convenient way to set up drives. We have had a bit of a debate on the forum about the naming of Shared and My resources and as yet haven't come up with a concensus of a more suitable nomenclature. Have you set up the paths on individual machines using the Profile and resources dialogue in Activstudio settings?
