Related to the idea of tracing through thin objects is the idea of "drawing around physical objects"...

For example you can take a cereal packet and use the Activpen to draw its net while you roll it around the board... this is really effective and helps make sense for the kids of what is going on.

You can also draw round other things like a biscuit tin... or indeed children!

My children like a game where they trace themselves by standing on a chair with their back on the board and then drag and resize bones from the library to the correct places.

They filled the outline and grouped it with drawn cloths, hair, eyes, etc. then used the transparency slider on the group to reveal the bones inside.

We cannot keep the dog still long enough to trace though....! The rabbit might oblige.

If you actually do this with a whole class you can usually recognise each and every child by their unique silhouette... which makes for a nice art lesson - and you can drag the "children" to the library for other activities and games in the future

Have I missed something in my resource library - where did you get your bones from?!

Or are they your own bones?! ie. in your 'my collection'?

They were in Activities and Games in Shared collections - Boneyard Bill.

Can't locate them in V3 yet though! I think they have buried him! :D

It's ok :) - it must be Easter!! - he has been resurrected as a flipchart in shared flipcharts that comes with V3!

Will drag his bones into the resource library - if he doesn't mind!! :D

The nets are a brilliant idea! I'd better buy myself a Toblerone so I've got a triangular prism to trace around.:)

:)

You can get huge Toblerones at Airports - ideal for tracing round.... and enough to share with even the biggest class afterwards!
