Adding on from Sarahs suggestion about planning the board in for group activities - use the sound recorder, for those children who find writing very difficult, to allow them to get their ideas down!

I completely agree with Dug about the board (and activote) being as important as the sand and water for continuous provision. My only suggestion here is to have two pens - a teachers pen and a childs pen (sometimes they get a bit carried away and stab at the board!).

Another idea for the sound recorder is to record the question. This is great for listening skills as well as for students who are learning another language.

The question can be listened to (versus read) and the students can vote on the answer.

See this flipchart for an example:

Listening to Prices

Description:

This is a simple flipchart to assess students’ understanding of verbal pricing. Each page has an audio link to someone saying a price. The students should vote on which price they heard the voice say. This flipchart was developed for ELL students and can be used with either Activstudio or Activprimary.
