1st March is World Book Day www.worldbookday.co.uk (http://www.worldbookday.co.uk)

Scholastic are running a competition. Poems can be written by a group of children or individuals up to the age of five and must be no longer than 50 words. Have a look in Nursery Education on page 8 for more info. UK only)

Why not send us your flipcharts that you use for teaching poetry or anything else related with World Book Day.+wave+

How do people in other countries celebrate World Book Day. Can we do some exchanging of ideas here...

The above link too has some good resources in the 'resources' section (strangely enough! ) related to a variety of well known books.

We have had a wonderful day today, my children have made their own interactive book! It is based around Commotion in the Ocean, they have designed their own sea creatures and made up their own stories in AP, illustrating the page to fit their story!

I have attached part of our book for you!

Lou, this is wonderful. [clap]
I love the way that it is so obviously child centred and their involvement comes through in every page.
I want to be in your class!

Congrats on your 500th by the way.[clap][clap][clap][clap][clap]

That is inspiring Lou[clap] I think I will try something similar with my P.3 (year 2). We are doing the Teddy Bears Picnic so a picture and stories about their bears might be good!! I'll post if it works.+wave+

Thanks
Caryn

Lou, as ever, this is fantastic [clap][clap][clap]

This is the sort of thing which is so attainable through the software, so simple but soooooooo effective. It's true interactivity with children being in charge of their own learning.

I would love to use a couple of examples when working with other schools if that's OK Lou?

Thank you.

Well done Lou[clap] [clap] [clap]

I thought these were great flipcharts from the children and immediately took them to our KS1 teachers, who were also impressed. I showed the examples to my own class who just oooed and ahhhed in all the right places!
