I'm having problems opening recordings made with the video tool once they've been saved. I use this tool to record handwriting to play back to the children which is really useful but not so useful when I go to open it from where I saved it to and it isn't there. :( Any ideas anyone???
Thanks! Karen
Just a thought. The videos do not save to: My docs-> My Videos.
They actually go to My Docs-> ACTIVprimary3 (or studio or primary2 etc)-> My Videos.
It would be easy to imagine the former given that 'My videos' appears in the destination line.

Tried that but that doesn't find them either. Yet I know it's saved there because if I try making a new film it shows the previous one is there when I go to save it.
Have you tried using Start->Search and entering the name of your file?
Or using windows explorer or another way of navigating to the file?
Mine seems to work ok so not sure what else to suggest.

And maybe when looking to open the file that it says 'All files' in th 'Files of Type' box under the file name box or just type *.* in the file name box.

Right Caryn....
I have just created a video (I am in V3) and it saves, by default, into your My Documents in a folder called my videos. In V3 it is very easy because you can see this file in the library when you click on the relevant icon which opens up that folder within your "my library" ie the single person icon.
In Version 2 it happens in exactly the same way, the file is stored in "my videos" within My Docs within AP2. However, there is no navigation directly to this folder/file from within the program ie from within the library, you have to navigate there by going into design mode double clicking on an object embedding a file and choosing that file from My Docs>AP2>My Videos.
If this doesn't work then it is like Jon says and you aren't displaying all files and that's a Bill Gatesism setting - where you need to tick a box to show all files... if you need that I will look for that for you, but let me know how you get on with the above....+wave+

Library enhancements in AP V3 address this.
The resource library now has extra 'tabs' for sounds, videos and flipchart pages.
This way any audio or video you record and save to the default location can be retrieved in a click or two.
If you are planning to reuse the video in another application such as Windows Movie Maker to make it into a webcast or podcast- you may want to save the video to the Windows folder My Documents > My Movies
MAC AS 2.5 users can also enjoy iLife integration - iMovie, iPhoto and iTunes folders are all additionally accesible from within the resource library - streamlining the use of those apps with AS.
