If you create crosswords or other puzzles where you have the puzzle page followed by the answer page, using the Cross Fade page turn effect makes the answers appear as if by magic  Have a go with the flipchart below and make sure your Page Turn Effect is set to Cross Fade - right click over the Next Page button and choose it from the drop down menu. Enjoy!
Thanks to Lori in Houston for the original flipchart.

That is cool - I like that [clap]
For those that don't know how - right click on your page turn arrows to setup page turn effects. {}

When starting children off with animation it is great using the AP - set up the first page with a background and character, duplicate the page and then move the character on slightly. Repeat many times and then view using the cross fade effect. Looks like the character is really moving!

This is a good way of getting children to understand about basic animation - bit like the flip flap books I used to make with my children..... The Red Riding Hood Flipchart in the Shared Flipcharts folder of AP does this by way of demonstration..... +wave+
Thanks for the reminder Marnie! [clap]

Yup, I do this. First time they saw it they thought it was magic (so did my deputy, who was observing me at the time :D ) Now they're experts.

What a cool idea...
If you then use the Area screen recorder - you could capture the animation via flipchart pages into a single movie that you could embed into a flipchart page or transfer to a video editing program such as Windows Movie Maker (or iMovie on MAC) and add sound, music and captions.

Or use the clock countdown tool with a 1 sec timeout with 'Turn to Next Page' action.
Then sit back and watch the progress.

Is it possible to have different page turn effects in one flipchart? (not random effects) I would like to choose effects for each page- cross fade for some pages, and page fold for another. Linking to another flip chart is all I can think of to do.

Hi Amanda and welcome!
Sorry no you can't do what you are asking.... It is an effects feature which is either on or not and so I am afraid it affects the whole flipchart and not the pages individually!
You may get some of your desired effect if you were to assign the reveal tool to be on when you turn the page. This can be done by double clicking on the page in Design Mode (Click on the Promethean Man and then click on his friend - second icon in on the roll out - until you see a red frame around him) one of the options offered in that tool box is tools on/off etc.
Although not page turning, you may find it helpful:confused::confused:

Of course now that we have V3 it would be possible to recreate the 'cross fade' effect on a single page by having the puzzle and the answer placed on top of each other (with the puzzle on top) with a button assigned the action of controling the transparency of the puzzle.
The attached flipchart shows something similiar.
Cheers
Peter
