This forum is buzzing and it is great, really great. Thanks for all your enthusiasm! +wave+
It is interesting to see how many times certain things come up and it is lovely when we have customers who are able to respond by quoting previous threads/posts/inputs.
One of the facilities of this forum which I think is quite staggering is its efficient search facility.{}
I am always amazed by the results when I search for something. I rarely don't get what I am looking for. I know it is sometimes easier to post your own question rather than search... but could you try searching occasionally? +wave+ ???? +wave+ [clap]

I also think that this is a great forum for searching! [clap]
I hardly have to post with finding other peoples problems from the past! :D

There is sooo much to learn...how long does it honestly take to become fully proficient with all the components of this system?
 It's exciting but really scary too!

Hi there,
Don't be scared.... teaching and learning is what you do best. All that is offered here is a way of helping you incorporate some technology.
My advice is think about what you are teaching and what you want to "say"
Essentially you will be using text and pictures to do this in your classroom.
If you then apply the fact that you can save, modify, edit and review you are using the software and technology.
Small hills not huge mountains.
Each time you do something save it in your flipchart pages area so that it becomes your knowledgebase.
ALSO go to prometheanlearning.com and get a grip of the software.....
AND ask, please ask anything you would like some help with. This is a proactive forum where people enthuse and want to share.
Where are you in the world?
What do you teach?
Do you use Activprimary or Activstudio?
Do you have Activote?
Do you have anything you are struggling with?
Do you have anything that worked well or not so well?
Does that help?+wave+
Welcome aboard!!!! [clap]

There is no need to know all the tools in activestudio. You may learn few simple tools and apply them in your lesson. As you spent more time on the board using the software, you will become more confident.
Remember that you are not using technology just for the sake of it but you should think on how the technology can benefit and help students be more effective and creative in their learning.

I agree with how wonderful the search feature is. When teachers ask me for help and suggestions, I frequently refer them to the Search portion of the Forum.
I always find many new great ways to do things when I Search a concept in the Forum.
It's great!![clap][clap][clap][clap]

I am new to this forum and feeling my way through. I was wondering if there was a thread or Topic area where a user could go and access step-by-step, basic how-to's and/or tutorials (flp) of how to create/utilize certain tools . For example everyone loves Margaret's spyglass and it took me some time to locate a flp with it and then once there the one I found did not give me the "process" of how to actually create it. These tutorials would be great for teachers that need that reinforcement after they have actually seen the tool in action. The atomic learning tutorials are good but again seeing it in education content and then the how-to is valuable
Is there a place on the forum for these "how-to's" or plans to place them in a location?
Thanks

I would start on this page called "Flipchart Fundamentals."
http://www.prometheanplanet.com/us/server/show/nav.942
In a nutshell, you will find "Six Steps" there. Take a look and let me know what you think1
Lisa
And the Activtips show you lots of 'how to's http://www.prometheanplanet.com/us/server/show/nav.1252

I know that there are a lot of sub forums already :) but could I suggest a 'hall of fame' forum in Activstudio and Primary (mac and PC)?
This would store the most accessed threads/ common questions for each type of software (e.g. spyglass, how to hide the sound controller) and be a great starting point for new users browsing the forum.

Good idea Rosie.[clap][clap]
Another forum request: could we have 'tagged' threads so that similar topics are somehow 'grouped' together?

Yep, exactly! Tech support often refers people to the forums when they ask a lot of "how to" questions. Since we're on the phones all the time, we actually don't use the software much. So, instead of wasting valuable time on the phone, we refer people to the experts.......you! [clap]

One day your all thumbs, the next thing you know people are walking into your class asking, "WOW. How did you do that!". The best thing you can do is find someone to mentor you, and you mentor someone. It is that collaboration that is the magic of Activstudio.

I have a concern---When I'm interacting with the Promethean Board with my students using the activpen--- the lesson is going well then the actipen stops working during my lesson. I stop and turn off the computer and start again and the pen will work again???? The students don't like waiting for me to stop the lesson --- What do you think I'm not doing right? I only have one flipchart open at one time. janp@llelem.lake.k12.ca.us

Hi, Peter.
Have you try with another Activpen? Off and on the power for Activboard? Does it work?

Hi Peter
If rebooting the board doesn't solve the issue, check you have the latest driver. If the latest driver doesn't sort it, then you definitely need to call your local Promethean Tech Support.

Hi Peter,
Are you sure its the pen itself? Perhaps it could be that the board is losing the connection to your computer. Sometimes the USB ports lose power, which would be why restarting it helps out.

Hello, Dave.
You are right on this field. That happened when your USB cable go beyond 5m without using the correct cable.
