Hi there

Just trying to get my head completely around the similarities/differences between MAC and windows versions.....

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to prevent the images looking 'ghostly' while being moved (dragged) around a flipchart page?

What I mean is, when you drag a picture from one point on the flipchart to another it doesn't actually 'move', instead it gives you a translucent version of the image leaving the actual image in place until you've finished dragging... does this make sense

If it makes any sense at all to anyone and they know the answer on how to make the images 'solid' when moved (as it is in windows versions) could you please let me know?

Many thanks.

Laura ????

It does make sense. I have noticed that as well. Unfortunately I haven't found a solution for it. If you find a solution I would love to know it! Maybe it will be different when 2.5 comes out.

I think its just a MAC thing. I find it useful as it acts as a preview of where you want to place your image in relation to where the image is at the moment and gives you the option of changing your mind!

Can't understand why you would want to make the image look solid anyway? Please enlighten me!

OK - a scenario I have often used in Windows version is telling a story using images.

I have a background which is a forest and a tree which has been cut out and put back on the background but sits on the top layer. I now take my character (who is standing to one side) and move the character 'behind' the tree until they are out of sight.

Doing this on the MAC doesn't have the same impact as you can't move the character smoothly to move behind the tree. You either have to move it and drop, move it and drop, etc on and on until it's behind the tree or you move it as it is so there's no gradual moving behind the tree -not sure that makes sense!

But, that's how I would like to use the feature within my flipcharts being used on the MAC. :(

That's weird. I just moved an object around on my Mac and it was visible while being moved.

I'm using 2.5 Build 69.

Wonder if it has something to do with the version you have or your settings?

Hi Lisa

If you can find a setting I can change that would be great! AP is not on 2.5 yet but I do have AStudio 2.5 but it behaves exactly the same on that - I see a 'ghost' image moving while the 'actual' image stays put until I've placed the 'ghost'.

Laura

Hi Laura

Dunno if this is any closer or not but I found that if you select an object then move it by using the "freely move" pick up box (top one) it will move how you want it to. The downside is that you still have the pick-up boxes surrounding the object while you move it and also when you select the object it brings the object to the front no matter what the stacking order so you'll have to put any objects you want your moveable objects to go behind on the top layer!

Hi, :)

The 'ghost' image observed while dragging image is a standard behaviour a drag and drop works on Mac - you can notice similar ghosty text, whatever with any other application.

So far ACTIVstudio 2.5 has few modes of moving objects - 1) drag and drop allowing to move the object across the flipchart, to trash bin, resource library, shortcut bar or outside to desktop or any other application (performed via click and drag the object or via the hand drag handle) 2) move via crossed arrows handler - live moves objects across flipchart only 3) Can move objects across flipchart using arrows with key modifiers (shift, )

Current 2.1 ACTIVprimary allows to 1) drag objects (ghosty half-transparent drag image) and 2) move via crossed arrows move handler (places centraly above selection frame)
