I'm trying to get more acquainted with the MAC version of AStudio and Primary and am needing some expert advice!

My first question is this, in the Windows version I can launch the web browser and drag text and pictures straight from a site onto my flipchart page. I can do the same with the MAC, however, once a picture is on the page it seems to always be a 'link' rather than a picture for its own sake - does that make sense

Can anyone tell me how it can be just a normal pic please? BTW it's not a 'hyperlinked' picture, just a normal one.

????

Hi Laura,

Same thing happened with me. I'm using Mac Activstudio 2.5. I tried with both the built in AS browser as well as Firefox. Both times when I dragged an image to the flipchart, the image appeared as expected but also made a link to that file (the URL to be exact.). Is that what is happening with you?

I don't know if that's a bug, but you could always go in and turn off that action.

Just an idea.

Thanks for your reply Lisa - it's exactly what's happening with me. I also worked out that turning off the 'enable actions' stopped the pictures becoming links but it seems a little clumsy.

I just want to be sure that I'm doing the right thing and not expecting too much. I so love the MAC version and don't want to be frustrated with it so I'm being very patient

Anyone else got any comments/thoughts?

Laura

When you drag over a graphic from the browser it embeds the URL that you took it from. Here are the steps you need to take in order to disable it:

1) Go to the menu bar at the top, pull down "Page", and uncheck "Enable Actions"
2) Selet the graphic and double click on the graphic and you should have an "Object edit" window
3) Choose the "Properties" button (document with check mark)
4) Select "Actions", pull down "Open Document or file" and choose "Do Nothing"
5) Close the window and it should be inactive.

Hope this works.

You can also ctrl/click on the page and uncheck 'Enable Actions'.

Then double click on the object to open the Object edit toolbox, select Actions and Clear.

This works for me!

I find that the best way to get the picture in is to copy and paste it rather than drag and drop. If you control-click the image you want (same as right-click in windows) you can select "copy image". Control-click your flipchart page and click "paste" and "From Clipboard" and "Image" (all nested drop-down menus). The image will appear on your page.
Don't forget to move it to your resource library if it is one you may use again.

And there is always the Camera tool!
