Hi guys
I know there are a couple of sounds already set for the cowntdown clock. Still, I wonder how I go about using a different sound picked out from the sounds tray.
thanx for your help
Add sounds to the following folder: C:/program files/ACTIV software/Activ Primary2 (or ACTIV studio2)/Sounds and they will appear in the coundown clock.[clap]

but how can I set the alarm clock icon to automatically open the cowntdown on the screen?
I did a search for 'action objects'. Got this: http://www.prometheanplanet.com/common/html/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=2334&highlight=action+objects
Sarah has posted a flp on that thread with some action objects (basically something you click on and an action is performed - such as the countdown clock starting). Open the flp and then drag the objects (including the clock one) into your resource library. You can then place the object on a page and whenever you click it, your clock starts.

I clicked on the link but got the message "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."
Any idea why?

Hi Rex
Margaret's link did that to me as well. So I went to searc, entered Countdown Clock and got lots of results. So I have pasted my link to check ...

Margaret's link refers to Prometheanworld, my guess is that she entered the forum by a route that is no longer valid - we all need to enter the forum via the Planet route, not via an old link

Peter, same result unfortunately - I get an error message rather than the link.

I think the easiest way to get round this is for individuals perhaps to put in their own search. Go to search - but not the search which only searches the forum within which you are "in", make sure you search all the forums... +wave+ Hope that makes sense!
It works every time for me in terms of returning a whole load of posts. Maybe transferring the link where the "returns" are hosted is not transferable across different machines...

Hi Folks
Sorry you cannot copy and paste search queries - they are session based and will expire - this has to occur since the database is constantly updated and keywords re-indexed to account for new posts, edited posts, deleted posts.
I suggest that the only forum links you can use are actual post urls - but even those will fail if the original message got deleted for some reason - we tend not to delete posts - but the bigger and busier this forum gets we will have to start archiving older posts.
In this case it would be better to inform people of search terms to use to find related posts - they then use the search mechanism themselves and get a list of valid references.
Merry Christmas All!

Cliff, I'm not convinced that this is the best solution. I did a search on 'countdown clock' and found 16 threads with well over 100 posts in total. Whew, that is a lot of posts to look through... Multiply that by the number of users who are also searching on 'countdown clock' and you have a lot of people spending a lot of time searching for that elusive nuggest buried in this plethora of posts.
Now that we know that we can't just provide a link to a past post, the best solution is for the person who finds it (usually Margaret, it seems!) is to just copy and paste the relevant info into a new post in the current thread. No searching - there it is!
Cheers

Hi Rex
Sorry if I was unclear - you can provide a link to a past post - you cannot provide a link to a set of search results - the latter will fail!

Hi Cliff
Oops, I mis-wrote. What I meant to say was:
"Now that we know that we can't just provide a link to a search result, the best solution is for the person who does a search and finds a useful tidbit of information should copy and paste the tidbit into a new post in the current thread. So no-one has to search for it themselves - there it is!
Alternatively, provide a direct link to the post, rather than to the search result.
Cheers
Rex
