After downloading some flipcharts from the promethean site, I can not open or save flips using the Browse windows icon. Although it is connecting to download resources in design mode. Has my software been corrupted? Anybody got any suggestions as going through explorer to save to floppy or USB is very time consuming.

Can't help you on that one but if it's any consolation (not likely  ) I have had a similar problem on one of our laptops, in that it will only read from the A drive and not from the CD drive!! Like you I have just got used to using Explorer - so I would be grateful for some advice too.
Thanks

I am not sure if this is what you mean
However, it is worth saying that if you already have ACTIVprimary open when you try and access your flps then when you double click on the flp (in explorer) you will effectively be trying to reopen the program a second time.
Does that make sense??
My suggestion is this....
Save the flp to your desktop without having AP "open/running".
Then double click on the saved flip.
This should open AP and the flp.
If this works then when you download the next one(s) I suggest you save them in the "correct" place straight away.
cdrive/documentsandsettings/allusers/shareddocs/activsoftware/activprimary/flipcharts.
The above path is for xp. Look under "Resources" at the top of this forum for '98 path.
Do let me know how you get on.

Thanks for the help. There is no problem opening and saving flps through explorer. But when in activprimary and wanting to open a flp from a floppy or USB data carrier I go to open file then try to use the Browse Windows icon - however it won't connect to anything! This is only on my laptop (suprisingly the ancient computer at school works fine).
By the way emailed for technical support and never got a reply! graemlins/help.gif

Hi
I've had the same problem Janet. ACTIVprimary doesn't seem to open when I try to use the browse windows from within the program. :(
If anyone knows why or how to sort it out I'd be grateful for the advice.

I now fully understand your problem as it happened to me this week and I also now realise that I hadn't got a clue what you were talking about THEN!
BUT with a lot of help from my friends (!).....
We are aware now that there is a problem when you have opened a flipchart from a removeable device. What happens is that AP remembers that path and looks for it when you next go to look for a flipchart in another area. BECAUSE that removeable device is not present it gives up!
It saves a setting which currently you have to manually remove folks. I am sure there will be a patch soon, but currently this is the cure!
The only recourse is to delete the settings.ini file located in documents and settings/username/local settings/application data/ACTIV software/ACTIVprimary
Now that I have done that I am sorted. Do let me know how you get on!

Nice try but ...
I haven't got that file on my system in the first place! So there must be something else which causes the same problem?
Let me know if you have any other ideas but I am sure I can survive whilst waiting for a patch.

Hi Janet
When you say you haven't got that file on your system, I have to assume you are not running Windows XP or 2000. Therefore, if you are running 98 or ME look in Windows/Local Settings/Application data/ACTIV Software/ACTIVprimary/settings.ini
Hope this helps

For those of you needing to know this..... ;)
In the interim period, before a patch is released, a quicker work around is for you to ensure that there is a cd rom/floppy disc/flash pen in place when you browse and then you can go where you like. Once it establishes its previous path, then it opens up. graemlins/clap.gif
