Import photos from iphoto

Hello all

I'm a newbie to Activprimary and wish to create a register flipchart using photos of class members. How can I import the photos from iphoto? Any advice gratefully received????

Hi,

I have not ever used iphoto but asuming you can see an image at a time, this is one way of doing it:

* Open iphoto so that you can see an image
* Open AP
* Select the desktop capture mode
* Select the camera tool
* Choose the type of camera you want (area - to take an area, or if you just want the out line of the child - choose the freehand tool and draw round them when you are linked up to the board)
* Capture it into the current flipchart page

I haven't used iphoto either but if the images are stored in a folder on your computer you could do it this way as well -

Open up AP.
Click on the resource library (book icon)
Click on the categories button (double headed up/down arrow)
Click on Other location (white folder)
Click on Browse to another location (Windows icon that shd have appeared)
Browse through your folders in the window and locate/select the folder where your photos are stored and then click on OK
The photos that are in the folder should appear in the bottom toolbar for you to drag onto the flipchart page and resize etc etc as you would with any image.

If your photos are not stored on your computer then I suppose all that could have been a waste of time!! :eek:

Thanks Sarah. I tried that way and it works reasonably well. My final solution was to deal with the photos in another programme and then import on to my flipchart. I now have another problem in that I want a button (3 actually), to find out how the kids feel, to play a sound. I've got the sounds working but can't 'hide' the placemarker - it seems to have to sit on top of the button - work in progress.


Thanks also to Lou - didn't try your idea - I'll need to play with the camera tool!

Hi Philip,

Activstudio 2.5 for the Mac (when released) will have drag and drop iPhoto, iTunes and iMovie integration. I have been beta testing it and it works really well.

Basically, you will be able to click on the computer icon on the resource library window and new icons will appear showing the three "i" areas.

I will attach a screen shot.

Something to look forward to!
