When you are preparing flipcharts these keyboard shorcuts may be of help. Thanks to Sharon and Louise:
Ctrl A - select all
Ctrl C - copy
Ctrl G - group
Crtl P - print
Ctrl S - save (that is after an inital save - see below)
Ctrl U - ungroup
Ctrl V - paste
Ctrl X - cut
Ctrl Z - undo

There are also things for text like:
Ctrl B - bold
Ctrl I - italic
Ctrl U - underline

Others ...
ctrl - n - starts a new flipchart
pg up - moves to previous page
pg down - moves to next page

Select an object
- use arrow keys to move it by 1 pixel
- use arrow & shift to move it by 5 pixels
- use arrow & ctrl to move it by 10 pixels

Hold down the shift key when clicking on objects & they will select/deselect so you can add/remove objects from a group selection

Doing ctrl s before saving the flipchart once will bring up the my flipcharts folder for you to save it into there

I was wondering if anyone knew a shortcut to "lock" something in place.

In most cases I have some objects on my page I want to be able to drag around but sometimes I don't (especially if I am using the object for "decoration"- like a background.)

I know I can:
right click on the object
choose edit
choose lock

but it would be great if I could be able to do this more quickly.

Any ideas?

There is currently no keyboard shortcut for Lock.
We could add 'Ctrl L' to version 3 for this.
Thoughts please.

That was the first thing I tried this morning Ctrl L - it would make sense and would save AP users having to go into design mode everytime! [clap]

Yes, ctrl-L would be good

Agree as well, if the "L" hasn't already been used!

If we are able to have L as lock, please could we have K (or any other unused letter) as unlock?

How about cntl-L toggles between lock and unlock and a small visual que tells you which state you are in?

What about Ctrl-F for a flip in the Y-axis (since this is the most common flip).

Many Maths activities require pieces to be flipped over (tangrams and pentominoes come to mind) and having to do 3 keypresses to flip an object is a real pain. Especially when the other translations (dilation, translation and rotation) are so easy.

And Ctrl-T to edit existing text?

I copy or duplicate some text and then modify it many times a day. It only saves one mouse click, but I would stil find Ctrl-T a time-saver once I have selected the text I want to edit.
