Hello there,
Is there some way to align text and objects when developing a chart.
I tend to like things lined up but can't seem to find the tool to do it.
thanks

I think what you are looking for is the Snap to Grid function. I'm not totally sure but I think there is a tutorial including this on the Planet site.

I'd also use Snap to Grid for this
Go to the resources, select shared grids and choose a grid which suits your purpose (horizontal or vertical lines, or squares). Drag it to your page.
Double click on the page to get the floating task bar.
Click once on the black square with an arrow in the centre on the task bar. This will now make sure everything you put on the page will snap to the grid, and can be toggled on and off.
To make the grid invisible, click on the mask (also on the task bar). You can do this now or at the end.
nb When you are adding text, it will let you add it anywhere on the page when you first type it. You have to pick it up and move it a little to get it to snap.
Hope this makes sense (esp the last bit!):)
Cheers,
Wendy

Hello there!
Thanks for the help!!!
I'll try that. When I did the tutorial for snap to grid...it didn't make sense to me and it didn't seem to work but given your information and what I want to happen after working with the program, I get it now!
(Of course, when I attempted the text recogition tutorial it didn't work for me but the other day when I was doing my morning message, suddenly the text rec tool was working. Sometimes I think my computer or the program has gremlins!
Thanks

Hi
If you were attempting the Text Recognition tutorial when you were not attached to your board, then it wouldn't have worked. This feature will only work when a board or tablet or hub is attached it is something to with the royalties that are paid for this "engine".

That was the frustrating part....I was attached when I attempted the tutorial. It wasn't an online tutorial, it was one from the training maunals you download. No matter at this point, the text recog. tool works great right now. Except of course when I was writing a list of soups my student liked and wrote clam chowder and it came out dam chowder....I guess my c and l were too close together so it figured it was a d not a c l ! Had to laugh!!! (then quickly put that word in the trash!I t'll be great to have the kids write and use it. Hopefully it'll help teach them to form letters so they are readable!!

Hi Chante,+wave+
Don't know if you've noticed this, but when you use text recognition, there is a red question mark on the task bar which sits on the screen. If you click on this when there is an error in recognising the text, you get a list of alternative words which you can click on and change to the word you wanted. My kids love the odd mistake in text recogntion when I write too quickly and are hyper-vigilant at spotting them!:) Haven't come up with anything rude yet but I dare say the time will come...

Yes - watch out with names. By default there is a spell checker at work and it will find the closest word in its dictionary - so it may possibly choose an unfortunate word when putting in kids/staff names - Sewell could become sewage!! and leave a pupil branded for the rest of his/her school career!!
You can turn the word recognion to character recognition by toggling the bottom left icon from ABC to ABC123 then it will look at individual pen strokes rather than the whole word - so you could spell 'thier' deliberately.

You can also add words to your handwriting recognition library. Just follow the following steps to add words on a PC.
Navigate to C:/program files/activ software/activstudio 2 and run cgrdict6.exe
Open User6.voc
Add any words you like!

Hello again,
I attempted to use the snap to grid feature but it was grayed out and wouldn't work. Any suggestions on what or how to fix it? I can hide the grid but not use snap to grid!!
Thanks for your support in advance!

You have to do snap to grid, before you hide it.... I am really sorry if that is not what you meant and I am stating the obvious and it is actually something else!+wave+

The problem is the snap to grid icon is "grayed out" meaning it is not active or able to do it. I don't know how to make it active. Do you have any suggestions for that.
I can get the different grids, I can move text and object around but I can not get them to snap to the grid because that button doesn't want to work!!!
If anyone knows how to address this, Please HELP!
Thanks

Wondering if this issue is about the Mac vs the PC. If I can recall correctly, there was a time that the snap to grid feature on the Mac was not functional. Perhaps if this is the case, someone would know at which release version, this feature was implemented?
Just an idea.

Not sure how this is happening - could you reply and attach the flipchart?

I'm at home right now and writing from a PC. I use my mac at school so I'll have to wait til next week to attach the flipchart and send it off. It doesn't seem to matter what flipchart, I've tried one's I've download and created new ones as well....getting the same effect in both.
It could be a version issue. Again, I can't check the version I'm runningright now. I know I need to do an update to correct a watermark issue but our network person works from her schedule, I only asked about 6 weeks ago from her to come and do the update. (That's a different issue altogether.)
Thanks for the support. I will respond early next week. We are off today for Veteran's Day.
Have a great weekend!
