I've downloaded and run the update (build 42) on two computers running build 31 and they stay on 31. What am I doing wrong??

 Sounds like you are still using the same Alias/Shortcut

Go to your hard disk...applications, and find the Activstudio program. Double click this and see if it is then the new build.
Create a new alias to this file instead

No I've been in this game long enough (I used one of the first six Macs to enter the UK, in 1983!) not to fall into that easy trap. >get info< on the application still yields the fact that it has not been updated. AND THE STUPID WATERMARK WON'T GO AWAY! On four newly installed (by Promethean) whiteboards!

How frustrating. I just updated my Mac with the 42 version earlier this week and it worked fine. (At least, it says that it is the updated version). I got my updater from the US website.

Perhaps the one you downloaded really isn't the 42 version but is mislabeled. (Just an idea.)

Or there is an issue with your version of your OS. If this helps, I am running OS 10.4.7. (not an Intel machine.)

Hi,

So you say the update completed successfully and you still have the build number 31? Doubt how could that happen....

Could you make a search on your HDD to prove you do not have another copy of ACTIVstudio and applications somewhere else except /Applications/Promethean/ACTIVstudio2/ folder?

If the apps were true INSTALLED with ACTIVstudio installer (not copied over from someone else's computer) and are true stored in "/Applications/Promethean/ACTIVstudio2/" location, the updater will 1000% update them to build 42.

If you are still having build 31, I'd suggest to make the uninstall of the ACTIVstudio and driver, make complete reinstall of the 2.1 applications and driver from CD and afterwards use the Web updater.

P.S. Frankly b42 update and new drivers worked fine for us....

Please come up to me with more details if my steps won't help you.

Firsty may I say - I'm Not sure what the last post was all about - what a silly suggestion.
Secondly - How nice it is to be part of such an active and cooperative Forum, well done to all. [clap]

If I may offer a solution to the issue- If all else fails I have found a very useful way around the WATERMARK problem. If one selects a flip chart and sets the background colour to a suitable colour the WATERMARK becomes undetectable. Blueberry seems to be the most appropriate.

Good Luck and I do hope this is of help.

I found the same problem on my wife's computer when she recently started using a board for the first time. The answer was to go to the US site and use the download there.

Wow! That's wierd, they are supposed to be the same file on both sites:confused:

I thank JHD for his super idea. Blue whiteboards (?) used to ber very popular in schools in the seventies. Especially to help dyslexics.

I find this even stranger as I manage which updates should be on the web and there is only 1 update for 2.2.42 for both the UK & US, so this is EXACTLY the same file on both websites.

jayartibee - If using the US download, as suggested by ojsaunders, solves the problem I'd be very interested to know so I can look into it further.

Thank you
Katherine

I don't know what was going on but my technician has sorted it out. At least he can get something right!

I have 2.1.39 installed on a MacBook Pro and the installer for the MacTel update tells me that it can't run because I don't have any Promethean Software on my computer. Suggestions?

Macintosh HD/Applications/Promethean/ACTIVstudio2/

is the location. ACTIVstudio Professional runs.

ACTIVstudio Professional (Intl) Updater 2.2.42.mkpg still tells me that there is no ACTIVStudio installed.

Computer was cloned with school software set.

I am logged on as Administrator.

Any suggestions?

Is this not caused by a missing receipt? I should re-install from CD first, and then attempt an update.

<sigh>
Someday all updaters will ask you to identify the application you want to upgrade, or even better, find the file itself.

Of course, the installation on the MacBook Pro *passes* the test that is run to see if the installer will work. Once the actual installer is run, it says that there isn't a copy of ACTIVstudio Professional installed on the computer.

Now the journey will begin to find the latest CD installer we have, then find a copy of a version 2 installer, then try to run the updater again. There goes another hour or so.
