Hi everyone:

We are running three activeboards with the latest update and driver off of 3 Power Macs 1.67 GH, 2GB Ram.

After I installed this latest update with the latest driver that came with it, a few odd things have happened.

1. I uninstalled the old software, reinstalled it and updated the new one because of issues we were having with the board and pen (when writing the pen would indvertantly bring up the menu without pressing the barrel button). When I installed the new software with driver, the pen would not work on the board (I tried different pens and double-checked the usb connection). I am having this issue with 2 of the three laptops/board combinations.

2. After this fresh install, the software did not ask me for a serial number. When I did this on the third Mac (same model) it did ask for the serial number and it is working fine.

Usually when I have minor issues a fresh install of the driver does the trick. It's not working for me now. Also, I have the latest updates from Apple 10.4.6

Any advice?

Greg

It sounds like the uninstall didn't remove everything. If you got the the version you are using by updating several times, there may be files that the latest uninstall doesn't recognize as part of the software.
Uninstall one more time but before you reinstall, do a search for any promethean related words/phrases (promethean, activ, etc). If it finds any thing either trash it or move it to a desktop folder if you are not sure what it is. And then try the reinstall.
You might want to stick with build 31 since it seems to be the more stable than 42 for now.

Thanks Mike.

I will try this when I get back to school in September.

Hi Greg,
By September we will have a new driver and a new Universal software release of 2.5 for Mac available through Promethean Planet. I'm test driving the alpha now on a MacBookPro and its looking good.
Suggest you follow Mike's advice and do a manual uninstall before you install anything else. In that way you may be sure you are starting from a blank canvas.
Have a good break!

I have just had the same problem. I uninstalled AND took your advice and wiped the computer clean of Activ anything and promethean anything. Then I reinstalled everything bit by bit running the updates one at a time. My computer will not recognize the board. This was a solution for the problem of my computer not recognizing the votes, but instead my computer now doesn't recognize the board, and therefore the votes. I'm running an ibook G4. I've used my computer to hook up to the board today on two separate boards using the same software and updates I've just reinstalled.

You should contact Tech support. You may have a problem in the electronics in the board.

Hi Sam,

Is the driver installed and what's its version? As well is the board connected via serial or USB?

I may need your Console log attached to your reply to see what's going on there.

My driver is version 2.3b73 which I think is the latest. The board is connected via usb. I used the program USB Prober on my mac to check if the board was communicating through the USB port and my mac recognized that it was attached to an Activboard. (Inside USB Prober, it would show that the board was connected, then when I unplugged it, it showed no board attached, then plugging it back in showed it again, etc). BUT in ActivStudio the watermark is still there saying it can't detect hardware when it's plugged in. Thanks for the responses. One thing I'll be trying shortly is updating the board's firmware from 3.36 to 3.6, but other identical-to-mine computers still work with the board, so it seems silly if that fixes it :-/
