Help... I find myself in a complete muddle trying to find the best way to allocate these pods....

Here's the situ.- We have 13 boards and two sets of pods which I have numbered set A (pods 1-32) and set B (pods 1-32).

The dilema - Any of the 13 classrooms may want to use either set A or B depending on which set is free so I have registered all 64 pods on each of the 13 PC's. I thought this logical but then when I go to allocate users to the pods I get in a muddle. I have set up the whole school in the User Database in folders according to class and key stage. Since each class might use either set I want to allocate names to each set so that, for example, child number 1 will need thier name allocating to pod 1 from set A and pod 1 from set B which, has been registered as pod number 33. Additionally there will of course not always be 32 children in a class so I might want to allocate pods 1-30 (setA) and pods 33-60 (setB) only leaving some blank.

The issue I have is that I can't figure out how to allocate a certain child to a certian pod as it just allocates the next available pod! I am sure there must be a simple solution so if this makes sense to anyone please help!

I can't see why you would need to do all that. We have 40+ classrooms and 8 sets of pods. The user database is set up in a shared area we all have access to. The pods are registered to the boards - set 1 to classrooms 1-5 etc... The teachers then register the pods to the children each lesson - a very simple and painless experience.

That makes sense but what if classroom number one was using the pods and classroom 2 wanted to use them aswell. Am I right in saying that they could not borrow classroom 6-10's pods because these are not registered in classrooms 1-5????

Ohhhhh I'm very confused!!

Yes you're right - but to be honest we haven't even got around to arranging a booking system - the pods are still a bit frightening for some teachers. This means that it tends to be the more confident users who have them and they them try their best to prove that it's pretty easy to set them up. We haven't as yet had an issue with this system - I guess we'll buy more pods if and when we need to....

We have one ACTIVote set for every classroom - 16 pods per class. That's the way it should be imo.

16 pods per classroom .... mmmmmm not much help when our average class size is 36... We had to break sets of Votes up to ensure that each box has 36 in.
