Few Queries Using ActiVote

Hello..

I have a few questions...... a speedy response would be great as we are about to demo to all our staff on Tuesday 7th....


1) Our "User Database" is currently held in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.......... we would like to create the database to be opened up by all computers on the Network. Does anyone know if you can move this file to a shared area on the Network so that we do not have to create all users on all computers?


2) Changing a flipchart of questions once it has been saved - We always seem to forget how to do this. When you open up the Question Master and select "File - Open from" it does not allow you to select flipchart files only the question master files. Is there an obvious way of changing the flipcharts once they have been created?


3) Once we have selected devices for users I believe we should be able to save our database of allocated devices by choosing "cancel" then be faced with an option to save.

When we select cancel we just get the Activote session window and not the option to save, is there a problem with this? We would like to be able to allocate devices to children to use in a classroom and those devises remain allocated so that we do not have to run this process everytime we use them.


4) Pasting results to a new flipchart - Is it the case that you can only use this feature in Demo mode? We would like to be able to use this facility with our flipcharts that we create, is that possible?

Here are some answers...

1) You can create your file & place it anywhere. Then go into settings & choose Activote. Then browse to the file you wish to use in the Activote user database area of the settings.

2) You can change individual flipcharts by right clicking on the page & choosing Activote/Question settings. This is ok if you only want to change 1 or 2 things on a flipchart. If you've got lots of changes its best to open up the file in the way you describe in question master & make all the changes & resave it as a new flipchart - perhaps overwriting the old one if thats what you want?

3) If you press exit then it will save the changes & will remember the users - until you next go into the user allocation program.

4) Results to a new page - this only works when you do the voting on the desktop & not from within a voting flipchart. On a voting flipchart the results are saved on the page with the question. You can paste the images from the voting results onto the page & if this is what you wanted on a different page then just move them onto a new page using the page selector.

Thank you so much for your quick response.

I'm not sure I understand the User Data base issue. I created our database then moved that file to our shared area. That then corrupted the ActivPrimary 2 upgrade I have been doing!!!!! I think I need to sort out the upgrade first before I attack the database issue.

I think I understand the query regarding editing flipcharts. We are not saving our preset questions as a question master file just as a flipchart file so when we have tried to retrieve the file through the question master of course we can't see it. I think if changes need to be made we are better off doing them when teh flipchart is open as you say.

When we exit from Activprimary we loose all the allocated devices. The manual says there is an option to save the allocated devises but when we exit (or cancel) we are not presented with this option thus having to reallocate devices everytime we want to use them.


Thanks for the info. on pasting results to a differemt page. I'm okay with this one.
