Hi

I have created an Activote Category within the Resources area, so if any of you are using Voting and have some flipcharts that others would enjoy do help populate it please..... +wave+

When the 'Big Move' comes up will ActiVote be integrated back into subject areas. Some votes are certainly cross curricular but the majority (at KS3 and 4 anyway) will surely still be subject based? I saw the new ActiVote section last night when I uploaded my Easter flipchart to the resources section and I wasn't sure where to put my contribution!

This is a tough one Charlotte..... and I am glad you raised it! [clap]

We obviously are advocates of voting being integrated within lessons both at Primary and Secondary. Sometimes planned and sometimes ad hoc. BUT in these early days of adoption of voting, we need to offer people opportunities to learn about voting and so by offering voting flps. separately it means we can "support" users with ideas and suggestions.

I suppose ideally we need to post in both areas if the flp has a significant number of voting questions within it.

You will find a lot of flps within subject areas that have the odd voting page or two and I have not copied them into the voting area as I am not sure that would be necessarily relevant.

I have to say that most of those types of flps have been originally submitted through the US Promethean Inc. resource area. The US have generally integrated voting as a complete Promethean solution in a bigger way than UK.

BUT I think it is true to say that generally the questions are more about assessment, whereas in the UK we have seem to have initiated more discussion/opinion gathering opportunities.

It will be interesting to see this one develop and how users most see the benefits of examples.....

Hi Charlotte

I am busy working on a number of web initiatives - one of them is the new resource system. The new system will allow us to classify all resources much more accurately and the new search and listing system will allow you to bring up resources on a number of criteria you may want to set.

For example show me resources that match the following criteria: have assessment included, at key stage 2, subject equals maths and contain the keywords of equations and multiplication

We are still a little way of completing this project but work is underway and as you may have read in recent press releases, for the US resources initially all resources will be mapped to the US state standards and searchable on that criteria also. We are discussiing adopting a UK curriculum standard mapping system also but maybe for a later phase.

Cliff - I would be happy to help out with the RE stuff. It's often the odd subject out as we're not NC. Different LEAs have their own ideas about what should be studied when and for faith schools like mine we have the Diocese to monitor our RE!!
What I mean is that I could help to organise what goes where for the new area... if such help is required of course.
The offer is there +wave+

This sounds a great idea. [clap] I am sure it will encourage people to contribute. I have made a couple of voting flips but I am not sure that they are good enough to share. When I have had a bit more experience I am sure I will be able to add some. Thankyou once again.

Will there be more ACTIVote flips in ACTIVprimary 2.5?

Hi,

I think anything anyone submits in the face of education has something to offer. I think particularly in these early days of voting adoption I would personally want to encourage you to submit your "efforts". Sometimes offering them here first can be a good landing place!! :D BUT I know that there are a number of teachers out there who are just starting to use voting and who would value help from practitioners like yourself.

In response to your question..... Yes there will be, we are due to launch something to meet that need in the very near future!!
