View Full Version : move with restrictions?

have just installed the Build 31 update and it has changed the behaviour of objects on a flip chart. Where previously, the pen could click and drag an object simply by touching it, now the object's 'handles' have to be activated then the pen moved to use the freehand box.
This spoils the immediacy and convenience of the activity that I built which has students matching 'hidden' words beneath other objects - a type of vocabulary memory game.
Is there any way to restore the previous capacity to simply touch and drag?

Hello Anne,
It appears to be working fine for me, maybe try running "repair permissions" in the disk utility on that machine, and making sure your driver is up to date. If that doesn't help, then it would probably be best if you give our tech support team a call.
Hope this helps

problem seems to be confined to existing pages in older flipcharts. I have since rebuilt some of the activities - on new pages with new objects - and they work fine. It's a pity to lose the integrity of older work, so if someone were able to solve the issue that would be great.
Anne,
You are correct in saying the problem is confined to flipcharts made with v2.0 of ACTIVstudio PE (and ACTIVprimary). Although v2.0 AS2 PE did not support the ability of one object to block another, flipcharts created defaulted to having this attribute set. v2.1 does support the ability to block objects, so when a v2.0 flipchart is opened, when you click and drag on an object it can be blocked by another object (the ‘free move’ drag handler is not effected by the ‘Can block’ attribute).
There are two ways of overcoming this problem:
i) Altering individual objects.
Double click on an object, select Properties icon and go to restrictors. De-select ‘Can block’ control. (This method is best if there are some objects on a flipchart that you want to block).
ii) Resetting all objects in flipchart.
Download the attached script applet (you will to unzip it) On launching the applet it will ask you to select a flipchart. It will then reset all objects in the flipchart so that none of them block.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for that - i've downloaded the applet and run it on 3 flp files. it works!
For others following this thread, when you run the applet, it appears that ACTIVstudio is actually opening the file. Depending on the number of pages in the flipchart, the 'wait' symbol (either black/white or coloured wheel or both alternating) show on the screen. Then the flipchart 'disappears' but ACTIVstudio stays open. You then need to open the file in the usual manner.
I think that a related glitch is that the new version alters some font sizes. Text that is sitting inside boxes that one might move around on the flipchart is 'missing' a final letter etc. You need to stretch the text box to reveal that. Again, this is fixable but time-consuming. Another bug for the techies to work. I am so impressed by the support offered by Promethean people. Thanks.
