Hi Martin,

Isn't it just great, when everything is fine and when it isn't....

Can I suggest you contact Technical support.... Link top right hand side of this window/screen. They might be able to establish your particular circumstances.

There are moves afoot to make Activprimary available to all board users through various packages and offers. I want it established from the "off" that Activprimary is currently the only dedicated iwb software for Primary schools and as such should be used wherever possible. It is the software which makes the difference between good interactivity going on or not. So many "other" boards use Powerpoint as their "mode".

Shall I go on? Glad you asked? +wave+   clwn

Ahhh I see! Haha, I'm sure you could write a short essay on the meaning of your sig :D

I have a copy of ACTIVprimary somewhere about - never used it though...

Thanks Margaret, that will be all!!!! :p :D +wave+ clwn

When I had that problem, I had to flash update the firmware on the board. Easy to do.

Firmware upgrade fixed it for us too! For the record, we have had two other little problems with communication.

1 - we are on a network, and sometimes the boys upstairs re-image the machines  when we are not looking. That can result in deregistration of your voters - but it's easy to re-register, of course, and now that they are aware of the problem they re-image without wiping the registration files.

2 - occasionally the communication between the board and the desktop just breaks down. If you look at the Activote Icon in the system tray (bottom right) it has a red cross through it. You right click (I think) on that and they select your port - say COM 1 - and that brings it back to life.

Not strictly all on topic and I apologise if this is common knowledge!

Comment #2 seems Windows specific. That happens on the Mac platform to but usually only (in my experience, anyway) when the computer is allowed to sleep.

The good news is that the "sleep" problem has been fixed in the current version [clap]

OK; I've carefully read all responses but still think I have a question! I'm currently using a Presentaboard (yuk) with a hub and ActivStudio. Today I tried to use Activote for the first time with it and although it worked first time halfway through the lesson I got the error message from the title of this thread. I kept trying and it worked but every few questions it came up again.

So if this is a firmware issue can I update the firmware in a Presentaboard?? is it the same disc as for an Activboard?
sooooooo frustrating!

thank you.

Hello, Gem. I wouldn't be able to say specifically whether there may be a FW update for your board, but the reason it was suggested above was to get communication between the board's radio tranceiver and the computer. In your case, the tranceiver will be in the Hub, so the Presentaboard is not really part of the equation. I'm not certain whether a FW update for the hub will resolve that issue or not, but as Margaret suggested earlier I would recommend at this point contacting tech support for further troubleshooting.

Hi Gem,
Daniel is right that in your case the radio transceiver is in the hub so the firmware in the board is irrelevant. Also, there is no new firmware for the hub. You need to contact tech support because it is important you have the correct driver to allow you to connect the board and hub at the same time.
