Let me start by saying I LOVE ActiVote but I have run into a small problem that I just can't seem to figure out...
When I am in named mode with a class their names are not displaying fully in the Voting mode - instead I just get their first initial - I have used ActiVote at other times and the full name appears - I want this back!! I haven't changed any settings and I have imported all the class lists as CSV files...
Any thoughts? ????

hi there,
yes there is a bug in the latest version of AS2 affecting named user voting in activotes.
There is a temporary fix.

Get it all here:

I already have this fix installed. The names are still appearing as first initial only...
Is there a setting for this?
Anyone know?? ????

Hi

It isn't a bug. When you were setting up your user database you were asked whether it is a surname or a forename. If you have select forename it was default to the initial. For example I put in the name.
Michele Horsburgh. If I choose michele as the forename and Horsburgh as the surname it will display (m.horsburgh) when I vote in named mode. In named mode the program is designed to show anything that is allocated to the surname field. If I put michele and allocated it as a surname it will show (michele) in the voting bar across the top of the flipchart

Make sure you allocate their first names as surnames and the whole name will show up in the voting bar when you start a voting session.

If that doesn't help send me your user database and I can make the necessary amendments.

Hope this helps

That makes sense now! I must have some of mine labelled as surnames already which is why they work when others don't.
Thanks for the help - I'll try it out tomorrow. +wave+

michele is correct,
I misread charlotte's thread.

Just make sure that your surname is not an initial.
Make sure you write the surname in full.
I had to learn this the hard way and was puzzled like you.
good luck.

Hey thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Very good suggestion to update to the latest version anyway.

Cheers +wave+

Ok, I'm very new to Activotes

Are you saying that in order to show pupils firstnames, rather than initial and surname, I have to make their first names their surnames and vice versa.
If I've already done it the other way round (as you would!), how do I edit this? Do I have to reimport the names?
