Hi,

After just watching a demonstration of the ACTIVote controllers, it occurred to me that they would be great for interactive games created in flash.

Making quizzes in flipcharts looked good, but there are so many other ways they could be used. Even something as simple as pressing a button to roll a dice on an interactive boardgame.

Is there any documentation or plug-ins / libraries available to see how the controls work with the software so others who have purchased the “ACTIVotes” can develop their own software.

Looking forward to an answer.

Regards,

I must say I find the Flash interactivity a very good idea... possibly someone from Promethean could say whether it is possible (I don't think it will be... can't imagine Promethean releasing any 'trade secrets' :p).

Anyway, ACTIVote rocks as it is. Always scope for improvement but it rocks. +wave+

Dave.

P.S. The clown smilie doesn't work!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, no. There is no way to develop your own ACTIVote programs.

Do you have any intentions of allowing this in the future? Many schools are now buying ACTIVote systems, and are limited to what can be achieved with the flipcharts. (Basically quizzes)

Surly allowing others to create software for your product will increase sales, as potential customers can see a wider range of software available.

We spent time getting to know ActiVote through quizzes before starting to realise that the only thing that limits ActiVote is our own imaginations. We now use it for target setting for individual pupils, pupil voice questions, parental concern at PTMs... and so many other things keep occuring to us!
It really is much more versatile than you first think.

As far as I am aware there is nothing currently in development to allow for this. As for the future, we are always considering the next product and I'm sure your suggestion will be considered too.

The actual delivery interface of ACTIVstudio is multimedia based. You can author voting question directly into a flipchart page - so you can link to flash files, show video clips, play sounds and vote at the same time. Teachers are not just using the Question Master Program to author quizes but integrated questions into flipchart pages as needed.

I use voting to support discussions and reflection, intervene when checking pupils understanding of a teaching point,

Forthcoming developments in ACTIVstudio and ACTIVprimary that will be showcased at BETT 2006 will show how even more engaging the use of this technology can be to enhance teaching and learning opportunites.
