We are looking to purchase the Promethean voting system in order to meet requirements for Recognising & Recording Progress and Achievement in Adult & Community Learning. Does anyone have information about how they've used this system with ACL?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Jayne, did you get any response to your message? I work in ACL and I am borrowing a set of Activote equipment to use with adults. As yet, I haven't used them with learners - I've tried out with our staff team (who were very impressed). I am currently doing some research into how much time (tutor/facilitator) it takes to learn how to use it, prepare & plan activities using it, and what impact it has on the teaching and learning. I though If I can collect enough data/info then it will be useful when I have to convince a rather reluctant staff team that they should be using it with learners. I get the general impression (from looking at the comments in the forum) that using Activote in teaching in a school or college (where you have an established learning environment / setting) is fantastic, but I think in ACL where you basically have to carry around your resources and constantly scramble around in different venues to set things up, Activote may be a bit cumbersome. Let me know how you get on.

Hi

You may or may not know that the Voting can be bought with a "hub" which means you only carry the voting around with you and not the board. The case is a very transportable/robust container and this may be ideal. Whereabouts in the country are you and I will get someone to call!

Hi Jan

We did end up purchasing the voting system along with some hubs. I'm currently in the process of trying to get used to the software and decide how best to implement it in our provision. I'm looking at trialling a few sessions with it this term in order to be able to support implementing RARPA. Hub and voters come in a nice case so easy enough to transport around, although there will be a small amount of set up with a laptop and projector. I can't tell you any more than that at the moment till we actually get going with it properly!
